Syd Puddefoot statistics[edit]

Hi, I'm just doing some work on the Syd Puddefoot article and noticed that the stats listed here don't match with those listed in the ref. Can someone please explain the discrepancy? Have Soccerbase missed out some games that have been included in this list? If so, it would be useful if a note were added. The article has P98/W43/D16/L39, whereas Soccerbase has P94/W41/D16/L37. The Third Division (South) Cup is missing on Soccerbase, this would add 2 more wins and 2 more losses. Another problem is finding the exact dates when he started/stopped working for Northampton Town. Based on newspaper reports in the British newspaper archive it seems he was appointed as their manager on the 7th of March 1935 and reports of Puddefoot resigning appear on the 11th of March 1937. His successor Cresswell was appointed on the 17th of April 1937. Cattivi (talk) 13:07, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Cattivi, that makes sense. It seems the extra games were added by @81.101.183.62 last year without citing a source. Those dates more or less fit with what I used in the Puddefoot article, cited from EFO. FCHD lists three games in 1935-36 (as well as a bye, which I assume doesn't count in the stats), and one game in 1936-37. Do you think that would be acceptable for referencing?

Obviously, it would be a lot easier if there were a reference that covered all comps, as this discrepancy seems to affect a number of managers, and adding additional references like that seems like it would be a bit of a nightmare.. Nzd (talk) 14:32, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
