Untitled[edit]

Just Fiction[edit]

This list should be kept to just fiction. I just removed 'Tis, and if we start adding non-fiction like that, there'll probably be no limit. If we could section the list into more genres like Children's literature, which was a good idea BTW, it might be ore useful and illustrative.--Pharos 19:16, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Do you think we need more sections? For very young fiction books, picture books, young adult? Or just children and adult? Bremen

Hi Bremen, you and the others have been doing good work here. I actually started this page with just two (that's right) that were listed on New York City. One of them was The Great Gatsby. Let me ask, have you read all of the books you've added?--Pharos 08:18, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Have I read all the books I've added? No...though some of the plot descriptions sound cool and I'm interested in checking them out.

With such a long list, one can see the merit of sections, and not just by age group. For example, genre and basic plot, like satires of the rich and ambitious, immigrant narratives, science fiction etc. I also wonder if listing by year of publication rather than alphabetically might not be more instructive of historical trends in the perception of the city.--Pharos 08:33, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm...Listing by year could be a good idea, but I can't seem to find the date for all the books.

Ok, I've listed the adult books by year...now I've just got to do the kid's section. By the way the list is still bare bones...there are tons of books I don't have but it seems harder and harder to find em. Bremen 06:14, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Set in NYC?[edit]

I would argue that so my books, such as Neuromancer, really don't belong in this list. Sure, there are a couple of events in the book that occur in New York, but I don't think that it's "set" in New York. On the other hand, a book like Moon Palace, even though it doesn't ALL take place in New York, mostly takes place in the city so I think it's appropriate to have on the list. Maybe I'm just splitting hairs here, but if we included all books that have a small scene in New York, this would become a very very long list. Gsd97jks 19:59, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
