Untitled[edit]

I edited the article somewhat and added/corrected a few figures. By the way, I would be slightly surprised if the army had as many as 21 Marksmans and 100 Euro-Spike launchers. What's the source for that? Teekkari 13:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The sources are many, Suomen Sotilas, Ruotuväki, Maamme Turvaaja, Rannikon Puolustaja, see also this link (Finland is on p. 72) and so on and so forth...There are also newer editions online here (observe that it is the current figures that are given, so if you choose a newer edition you might get less or more of other weapon systems). The numbers should be fairly correct. The Marksmans are that many, and the Euro-Spike is a fairly cheap system (compared to e.g. TOW)--MoRsE 14:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On page 119 of the book 'Itsenäisen Suomen ilmatorjuntatykit 1917-2000' it's mentioned that only six Marksmans were acquired, so I'm changing the amount to 6 in the article. Equipment of which modern use is debatable[edit]

The T-55MS's (modernised T-55 with mine rollers) seem still to be in use, as seen in the "Arrow 2016" video made by FDF. Thus I think it's appropriate to mention them in the article, even though they are somewhat outdated and not mentioned on the FDF website. XoravaX (talk) 20:21, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Picture changes[edit]

Recently 91.156.254.91 swapped some of the pictures of the equipment. I see that the MT-LB and AMV pictures are clearly better than the old ones, but I'd question at least the Marksman ITPSV picture. The new one is just as old as was the old one, and the old one had far less clutter in the background than the new one. Also, the same can be applied to the Leopard 2 picture: the new one doesn't emphasize the tank itself as well as the old one, where the tank is clearly the main object in the picture. As both are of the Leopard 2A4 tank too, I don't see the reason for using the new over the old picture. The BMP picture also is problematic; the new one shows the BMP's at a worse angle than the old one in my opinion. The old CV9030 picture also shows the turret of the IFV better than the new one. I suggest that those pictures are to be swapped back to the article. There's no need to do a change for just the change itself - the article supposedly needs pictures taken from the side or front corner of the vehicles on a clear, non-cluttered background, and placing emphasis on the single vehicle on the picture, and those new pictures listed won't do it (however the new MT-LB and AMV pictures do). --XoravaX (talk) 18:51, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

AK-74M[edit]

AK-74M is listed as a weapon used by National Defence Training Association (aka. MPK), which is NOT part of the Finnish Army & as such the weapon doesn't belong in an article about the equipment of the Finnish Army even if MPK did use it which I find highly doubtful as an actual AK-74M would be class 4 firearm which are incredibly difficult to get permits for in Finland, and MPK receives no special treatment in that regard. On top of that the FDF, even if it did have AK-74Ms (of which there is NO evidence-), couldn't lend them to MPK to use due to legal restrictions. Ape89 (talk) 14:23, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the rifle in question is the South Korean DAK47, but it is not fully automatic. I also think that it is being withdrawn and that the Finns are looking for a replacement for it due to some chamber and lock issues. I agree that it shouldn't be part of this list. My guess is someone saw some of the photos from National Defence Training Association's courses & misidentified the privately owned Saiga M103s in the photos for actual AK-74Ms, the Korean guns are quite distinct after all. Ape89 (talk) 23:57, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
