The image File:SS Washingtonian.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

I've removed this fair-use image from the list. — Bellhalla (talk) 13:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Images in table

[edit]

Why have the images been added to this list? With the images having differing sizes, we are flirting with NPOV by emphasizing the wrecks of some ships—which happen to have photographs—over others that have no photographs. The differing sizes of photos also emphasize some ships at the expense of others. Another important point is that having photos in this list greatly slows the loading time of the page (not everyone visits Wikipedia from the personal T1 connection on a supercomputer).

Since most (all?) of the photos here are found in the linked articles, I'd recommend that we eliminate the photos from this list (and any others like it that have photos). — Bellhalla (talk) 13:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, photos should be removed from this (and any other) list of shipwrecks. Mjroots (talk) 09:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
