Notability

[edit]

In continuation of the recent AfD, it is noteworthy that Ludwig is not in Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie, (here), even though he clearly is notable.

I have removed the following sentence:

  • Friedrich Carl Ludwig Koch, (1799-1852), a malacologist and possibly his brother[1],

because the BEMON source itself is uncertain, quote: "or the malacologist Friedrich Carl Ludwig Koch, 1799-1852, (the son of the former?) may be the honoured person?"

I find no other mention of this Friedrich, neither in the German wiki or in ADB, . I can find a likely Google match (name and years match) in the Darwin correspondence project, where he appears as a German mineralogist (not malacologist), here and "Koch, Friedrich Karl Ludwig and Dunker, Wilhelm. 1837. Beiträge zur Kenntniss des norddeutschen Oolithgebildes und dessen Versteinerungen. Braunschweig." here - Note the spelling Karl, not Carl. The sources are too uncertain for mentioning of Friedrich here. - Power.corrupts (talk) 08:27, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Power.corrupts: The Friedrich Koch of Kassel finds mention in a biography of Rodolfo_Amando_Philippi - see Kabat, A. R., & Coan, E. V. (2017). The Life and Work of Rudolph Amandus Philippi (1808–1904). Malacologia, 60(1-2), 1–30. doi:10.4002/040.060.0103 - Shyamal (talk) 08:29, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
