I have created a page about Luman Walters because he was an early associate of Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of the LDS Church. Walters was a treasure seer, an activity that Smith and his father also engaged in. Walters led digs that the Smiths participated in. Walters joined the nascent LDS Church, but did not follow it when it moved to Ohio.Tsluke 04:13, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Walter v. Walters

[edit]

Why is this article titled "Walter" ?

  • Abner Cole, who seems to have known him, called him "Walters" (Palmyra Reflector articles, 1830 June 12 and 1831 Feb 28.)
  • In English, the same name is often a surname (ending in s) and a first name (minus the s.) For instance: William Williams, John Jones, Robert Roberts, etc. If Luman was his first name, his last name ought to be Walters not Walter. Friendly Person (talk) 19:29, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
