Doesn't the last part of this read like a travel brochure?

Not any more. Hajor 21:38, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

If I am not mistaken, Luxor is not yet a governorate, but it most certainly will be in the future. I am not 100%, Can you verify this? As if for me, I quote from the Official Tourism Egypt government website,"Luxor today is a city of some 150,000 people and is governed by special statues that allow it more autonomy then other political areas of Egypt." It has a status that allows it to be like a governorate, but it still is part of the Qena governorate in Egypt. User:Hobapotter —Preceding comment was added at 00:26, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Photo arrangement[edit]

Well, turns out I'm not very good at arranging photos. Someone please help me out. --Isewell 16:18, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Dunno. Looks OK to me. What didn't you like? Hajor 21:38, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Looks better now. It looked cluttered before. Thanks. --Isewell 00:21, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Germanicus[edit]

Germanicus was not an emperor, he was adopted son of the emperor, and heir apparent; so more like a prince.

City of Palaces[edit]

Most websites I googled claim "Al-Uqsur" means "the city of palaces", obviously the "Al" stands for "the" and the romanization did not need the "L" in "Luxur", "uxur" was enough... Anyway, I cannot give an exact reliable reference for this, what shall be done? I had though the latin "luxus" which derived into "Luxury" and such words would be related but seemingly it comes from "luctari" which means "wrestle, strain." Nonetheless any historic cases of folk etymology follow this line of thought?Undead Herle King (talk) 03:34, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Image arrangement.[edit]

Firefox isn't rendering this page correctly, the same can be said for Google Chrome.

Most of the images belong on linked pages such as Luxor Temple, Karnak, Luxor Museum, Felucca etc. The Ancient Thebes page has no images! So I am kicking most of them off except for some of the modern town.--Charles (talk) 19:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

changes needed[edit]

could do with some better maps, and maybe some maps of the city itself. Halowsmaster (talk) 20:45, 7 October 2009 (UTC) see also the talk page of the luxor mapHalowsmaster (talk) 20:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

History[edit]

The history section appears to stop in the Roman period. Especially given that we have a separate article on Thebes, shouldn't the history section at least give some information about the modern town? john k (talk) 14:55, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
