Persian origin?
[edit]I have heard that she is originally Persian? is it true? does anyone know anything about it?
- I haven't, but I'm sure if you could find a reliable source about it, then we can include something on her origin.UberCryxic 21:58, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
If you refer to that comment on one of her videos available on Youtube that is completely false... Theuriau is even a very common typical Arpitan name mentioned in French names genealogic books. On top of that she is Catholic[citation needed] so that sounds all the more implausible.
Rumors say her Persian name is Mitra Taheri and one of her parents is of Persian descent. Lubricator (talk) 10:35, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
She's not Iranian
[edit]I can witness "Theuriau" is a name of my region, I'm from Grenoble, like Melissa's father family. And yes (as I see "references needed": The name of the priest who married them is Father Guy Gilbert http://www.lexpress.fr/styles/diapo-photo/styles/vip/melissa-theuriau-et-jamel-debbouze-couple-mixte-au-beau-fixe_1289210.html?p=10 ) , she is catholic, she get married at church , rumors said she is jewish, but I don't think so, because her husband (a muslim) told the press they decided to circumcize their baby, to follow the husband's family's traditions. They like to talk in the press about the difference of culture between Melissa's family (Catholic) and Jamel's family (Her husband, muslim) There was a lot of rumors about her, some scam sites says she's American, and her real name is "Hellen Hasman" (http://news12web.com)
The name Theuriau here: http://www.geneanet.org/ouvrages-livres-genealogie/theuriau.html The names : THURIOT, TEURIOT, THEURIAU, THEURION, THEURIOT, TEURRIOT, THEURIAUT, THEURIAUX are related by alternative spellings.
Arpitan personnalities
[edit]The Arpitania article on the English wikipedia was incomplete compared to the other version but the map should have put you on the right. It goes as far west in the lands as the "Lyonnais" - around the city of Lyon, France's second biggest city, considered as the traditional Arpitan capital of France- and Forez (mentioned even before our modifications so the mistake could have been avoided...)... Grenoble is definitely an Arpitan city traditionnaly (even in the heart of it) and its inhabitants Arpitans...The approach was wrong. The fact that one can't say because of its western borders that the official Rhône-Alpes région is (totally) a part of Arpitany, is irrelevent in the fact that Grenoble is still very much in the heart of it. Isère (département within Rhône-Alpes) in its whole is Arpitan but the most western part of the Rhône-Alpes régions is mixed between Occitan, Arpitan and what is today called French indeed... Last name pronunciation
[edit]Can some one (French) upload an audio file with a pronunciation of Theuriau? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nineth (talk • contribs) 06:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC).
- Agreed, this would be useful as it's not obvious Yohan euan o4 (talk) 11:22, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Something like "TURR-ree-OH". The hardest sound for English speakers is what the French write "eu" which you guys don't have. The closest I can think of is the sound in "purr", although it's still quite off. As for her first name "Mélissa", it is pronounced is French similarly to the way it is in English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.72.93.5 (talk) 12:27, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Vuarnet sunglasses
[edit]I know Ms. Theuriau modelled for Vuarnet sunglasses at some point, would it be reasonable to include that information and a sample photo of the ad under a fair use rationale? I wasn't sure since I looked at permissible fair use templates and couldn't find any for an advertisement. http://www.melissa-theuriau.fr/en-vuarnet.html Jonjames1986 10:26, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
