What is the problem with Notable MILFs section? All the references and sentences are almost straight from the porn starn articles. If there is a problem it is in other articles definetely not in this one. Klassikkomies (talk) 02:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
There has also been a lot lot of material deleted from this article even though the sources are cited properly. This is pure vandalism and the deleted material should be returned in this article as quickly as possible if there are no reasons deleting it. Klassikkomies (talk) 03:13, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I am sorry, I am removing it per BLP. If you wish to challenge the removal, discuss it at the BLP notice AN/I or with arb com. If you revert it again, I shall block you. DGG (talk) 05:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
This discussion is now v old; I'm just stumbling across it. I find no justification in terms of BLP for the deletion, and no relevant explanation at the noticeboard. DavidOaks (talk) 16:23, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Yummy mummy should have its own article?

"Yummy mummy" is a totally benign phrase in the UK, so to have it redirect to something with F-words seems rather inappropriate and incongruous. 217.155.20.163 (talk) 23:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I think there is a difference between the two terms. Whilst both terms refer to attractive sexy women, MILF is based on age, say 35-50, regardless of whether or not she is actually a mother, whereas a yummy mummy could be younger than that, but does have to be a mother. Edit 098 (talk) 01:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like original research to me. The M in MILF stands for "Mom", so I don't see the difference between the two terms. DigitalC (talk) 21:58, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
The majority of female porn stars in MILF Pornography are not mothers; actual motherhood is not a pre-requiste to being labelled a MILF, only good looks and age are. Yummy mummy is a totally different description, where the pre requistes are motherhood and good looks, age is irrelevant. An 18 year old mother can be a yummy mummy but not a MILF92.40.238.159 (talk) 20:38, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I totally agree that Yummy Mummy should be it's own article. In the UK the term means something completely different to MILF, a Yummy Mummy is a young, good looking mother of young children who lives a life of relative leisure which is funded by a wealthy husband (who usually holds a job in the Square Mile). I'm sure there will be decent sources somewhere that back this up. Coolug (talk) 10:09, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Disney

Is it worth noting that MILF is also an acronym used in Walt Disney World for the attraction called Monsters Inc Laugh Floor--TimothyJacobson (talk) 21:00, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Disney makes no such use of that acronym. If you can provide verifiable proof that it does, then perhaps. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 23:01, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
It's an unoffical usage, as mentioned in "Hidden Secrets of Walt Disney World". Can't remember the author's name off the top of my head.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 23:10, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
The internet's desire to come up with abbreviations for everything (IMHO, LOL, etc.) isn't terribly encyclopedic, and it could also be a single author making such a note, which borders on a fringe theory, in a manner of speaking. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 23:27, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Not internet; published book.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 12:48, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Just looked it up. It is "Th Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" by Susan Veness, and on p62. However, apologies, it only points out the acronym, but never says it is used in any context--TimothyJacobson (talk) 11:26, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Age range

This has been changed a few times and there seems to be no fixed parameters. I think the limit is around 50, after which the term GILF is more often used. The minimum age seems to be more varied. Mid 30s is common, but it is unusual for anyone younger than that to be referred to as a MILF. Edit 098 (talk) 01:07, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Bill & Ted

Is MILF really used in either of those films? I never heard it when I saw them, but I can't be sure I didn't see edited-for-TV versions. The stepmother in those films is too young to be a MILF, she's only a couple of years older than Bill & Ted, which is where the humour involving her character comes from. Edit 098 (talk) 01:07, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I've seen Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure many many times. I just watched it again to be sure. The term "MILF" does NOT appear in this movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.239.182.160 (talk) 05:33, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Usage

Why in the world would anyone think a MILF does not need to be a mother? That's just stupid. Its like saying the President of the United States doesn't have to be a citizen of the United States. Its one of the only 2 qualifications that are set in stone. She's gotta be a mother, and you must want to fuck her. The definition that says she doesn't need to be a mom is clearly intended to describe cougars.

I think that MILF pornography is different. For someone to be considered a MILF, she generally has to be a mom. "Cougar" is generally used to describe an older woman who goes after younger men, but is also used to describe an attractive older woman in general. I believe this would be a more appropriate term than "MILF" for someone who is not a mother.Mk5384 (talk) 07:58, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps those "MILF" genre porn stars who aren't Moms are acting? ϢereSpielChequers 12:52, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
In common usage MILF now is based just on age and good looks. "Cougar" just describes an older woman who goes after younger men, her looks are irrelevent. Women are labelled MILFs for being Good Looking at an age were most other women have let themselves go, usually after motherhood and marriage. Many women are described as MILFs how dont have children. Same as porn stars in MILF porn usually dont have kids. 92.40.238.159 (talk) 20:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Geez

This article states: "The plural form of the word "M.I.L.F." has been hotly debated by some frequent users of the term. Some claim that it should be "M.I.L.F.", short for "Mothers I'd Like to Fuck", but there is no grammatical or logical reason why the plural marker should go inside the acronym rather than outside, and pragmatics and actual usage very strongly favor the outside. Nobody says "Linguistics 101 has two TA." www.pta.org uses only the plural "PTAs". And so on. As an acronym, pronounced "milf" rather than spelled out, plural "milf" is simply impossible; no acronym is ever pluralized that way. The plural "milves", patterned after "wolves" or "shelves", is amusing but unjustified except as wordplay. The dozen or so -f words that change to -v in the plural show that pattern for historical reasons and are far outnumbered by regular plurals: beliefs, briefs, chiefs, clefs, decafs, gulfs, oafs, surfs, hundreds more. People can pluralize as they like, but only "milfs" is likely to survive. Google searches show it outnumbering the alternatives by more than a thousand to one." Wow, does this article really need to devote half of its content on how to form the plural of MILF?

Medical slang?

Really?Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Semi-protection?

I'm appalled at the amount of vandalism this page suffers; more than half of recent edits appear to be vandalism. Do you think we should ask for semi-protection? --MelanieN (talk) 02:14, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, Airplaneman, for semi-protecting the page until mid-October. --MelanieN (talk) 14:50, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Jocasta

Could we please leave Jocasta, Oedipus mother out of this. First, Oedipus The King is a tragedy, not a porn movie. Second, there is no credible source to confirm that she was hot, or that he indeed fucked her. He became king and took her as his wife - that is all you are going to find. And third, MILF refers to other peoples mothers, not your own.

Besides, it is no justification to apply anachronistic terms by invoking the idea that the concept was around before the term, even as i explain above there is nothing in common between Jocasta and a MILF.

I propose to delete the references to her from the article. Kotika98 (talk) 10:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

You make a good point that doing one's OWN mother is a very different situationi from MILF, which means getting the hots for an unrelated older woman. However, the inclusion of Jocasta is supported by a reference. As the reference points out, a hot mom used to be considered a tragedy, or at least a very uncomfortable situation. --MelanieN (talk) 15:18, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
And BTW "no credible source to confirm that he fucked her"? The legend of Oedipus (which is the only "credible source" you are going to get) relates that they had four children! Furthermore, when he married her he did not know she was his mother; she was simply a woman old enough to be his mother, which certainly qualifies her for this article. There is no evidence whether she was or was not "hot"; he married her for dynastic reasons. For that matter Mrs. Robinson was not particularly "hot"; her main attraction in Benjamin's eyes was her sexual aggressiveness. --MelanieN (talk) 15:07, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Jason Jones must be pointing to Jason_Jones_(actor) instead of disambiguation page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.154.199.90 (talk) 14:48, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Age range, continued

Someone has changed the definition several times, to define it as "a sexually attractive mother, generally between 20 and 50 years of age". That's not what the sources say about this term. MILF refers to an OLDER woman, a woman old enough to be the mother of the person describing her. That would rule out a woman of 20 for any guy over the age of 5. Per Wikipedia procedure we decide this by sources, not opinions:

See also a thorough discussion at the MILF talk page of wiktionary. Sample:

  • "In its proper use, MILF refers to a woman that is old enough to be the speaker's mother. The term originated with pubescent males commenting on the sexual desirability of each other's mother. Hence, these males were referring to women who were generally old enough to be their own mothers. Accordingly, a man age 30, cannot properly refer to a 35 year-old mother as a MILF. The term was originally coined specifically to describe significantly older women who are sexually attractive; for instance, a 22 year old mother does not meet all of the criteria for MILFness because she is not old enough to be the parent of a sexually interested speaker or his peers. Unfortunately, over the years it has been widely misused to describe any woman who has given birth and is still sexually attractive. This misuse robs the term of its critical and inherent original distinction as referring to the tittilatingly taboo act of sex between a young man and a much older woman."

--MelanieN (talk)

Later Someone has again changed the age range to "25 to 50". So I boldly decided to eliminate any age range, since I can't find sourcing for it. "Middle aged" can be sourced, and that's what it now says. --MelanieN (talk) 15:51, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Origin of MILF

The term “MILF” was first used in the spring of 1981 in Springfield, Virginia. It was originally uttered by the driver of a 1975 Pontiac LeMans while waiting in the left-hand turn lane heading into Springfield Mall. A woman with children pulled up to the right and was waiting at the signal. When the driver noticed her beauty, he simply said “there's a mother I'd like to f#%k...MILF” to other friends in his car.

A group of local students from Hayfield High School started using acronyms to describe everything after one of their girlfriends was deemed “Boring Kay.” She quickly began to be called “BK.” The term “who cares” mistakenly began to be called “HK” because it was close in pronunciation to “BK.” Before long, many common phrases were shorten into acronyms.

MILF quickly became one of those acronyms.

To the surprise of the Hayfield students, the term was overheard weeks later by students at other local high schools such as Lee, Edison, West Springfield and Mount Vernon. In time, the term MILF expanded across the globe and even into movies scripts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Merlin0423 (talkcontribs) 15:56, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

The term MILF predates the 90s

I remember hearing the term in the late 80s when I was in high school. Sorry I don't know how to document this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:C5B6:F550:1DCC:165A:D205:8EFA (talk) 10:35, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

I first heard it in western PA in summer 1989 from someone who had picked up the term at Fordham. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.209.167.181 (talk) 13:07, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

With

The term MILF was created in 1988 at Landon School for Boys in Bethesda Maryland by 9th graders while waiting in the carpool line. The term was coined based on a mother who drove carpool named Mrs. Foxman. After a number of potential acronyms the term MILF was decided upon even though it was missing the "T" for the word TO. This term quickly spread within the Landon School and began to appear online in the early 90s as the internet grew in popularity.
