Proposed merge with Gaudiya Nritya

[edit]

Gaudiya Nritya was reconstructed by Mukherjee. Discussions of it are invariably in relation to her. It has no independent notability. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:39, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Titodutta, for that reminder; I've read that page several times, starting from when you made it (perhaps when someone was trying to delete (!) the category for the songs of Lata Mangeshkar?); you might perhaps look at my comments in the recent deletion discussion here. No, Dharmadhyaksha, I do not make any claim whatsoever to have all the sources about this topic (though you might note that I added three or four to the Gaudiya Nritya article that are not cited here). What I am suggesting is that those sources we do have discuss the dance exclusively in relation to its (re-)creator. To be honest, I think that if there was extensive written documentation of it somewhere, Mukherjee would probably have found it by now (she is a respected academic), which would have relieved her of the necessity of basing her reconstruction on temple sculptures. However, if you are aware of such sources, do please cite them here. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 01:02, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Dance and dancer are totally different things and they have their own notability. Unless they don't we would like you to prove it so. Until then they are presumed to have different notabilities of their own. You did not answer why the government has instituted a scholarship for this? Do they every year give the scholarship to Mukherjee only? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:24, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Mukerjee is primarily notable because of reviving the dance style, and the dance style's only sources reference her. If both pages are going to have the exact same content from the exact same sources, it seems to be much better to just use a redirect. Wieno (talk) 10:07, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, dance and person are two different things. Besides, she is not the only proponent of the dance. Gryffindor (talk) 11:42, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Goudiya Nrutya is not a Classical dance in India. Please don't miss utilize the classical tag to any other dance. in India there are 9 Classical dance got the glory classical tag and Goudiya Nrutya is not part of it. be cautious while using it. please delete the world Classical dance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.81.51.49 (talk) 02:24, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't use as "Indian classical dance" as it is not recognized. this looks more self propagating by mutualizing some national level recognition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanmaya cs (talkcontribs) 02:31, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
