Southern Sudan Airlines[edit]

Any non-self-published sources for the existence of "Southern Sudan Airlines"? As far as I can see, the only existing South Sudanese airlines are Southern Star Airlines and Feeder Airlines. Jpatokal (talk) 02:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain how a non-existent airline can have a website that includes current information? BTW the prohibition against "self-published sources" is only relevant to establishing the notability of the subject of an article. This article is not about the airline itself so the rule is irrelevant here. I get more than 29 000 hits on Google for Southern Sudan Airlines. Roger (talk) 11:23, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There definitely were plans to set up an airline called SSA, hence the site and news articles mentioning it, but even the site does not actually say they are flying anywhere: see eg. [1], undated, which talks about a "maiden flight in the near future". I also can't find anything that indicates the airline has ever existed, much less is flying now: IATA/ICAO codes, airplanes registered to it, pictures, trip reports, travel agents selling its tickets, all come up blank. I must agree that the sole existence of a website is insufficient proof of the actual existence and operational status of an airline. There have been several cases like this before. I suppose we shall have to wait and see what turns up, or doesn't. Jan olieslagers (talk) 04:40, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We should remove the claims about SSA flights from all the affected airport articles and concentrate on adding informarion about airlines that do actually exist and do serve the airports concerned. So far it seems like the only South Sudanese airlines that fit the criteria are Feeder and Southern Star. Roger (talk) 07:16, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
