I feel that this article along with the other articles for memvers of the New York City Council meets the criterions set forward by the WP:POLITICIAN notabilityg uideeline. Section 2 of that guideline says, and this is a direct quotation: "Generally speaking, mayors are likely to meet this criterion, as are members of the main citywide government or council of a major metropolitan city."
- i feel that New York City counts as a "major metropolitan city", and Ms. Baez is currently a member of the city's main legisltative body, the New York City Council.
thank you for your time and consideration in reading this rationale for opposing the speey deletion of this article. User:Smith Jones 18:47, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Even though NYC is a major city, you must consider what this person does for the council. Her achievements are not notable, as is she.keystoneridin! (talk) 18:51, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- i think i understand your point. I believed that all city councilpersons for NYC were notable, which is why i have created so many articles., is there another standard that I have overlooked because it looks as if her achievements are notable within New York City and specifically the Bronx even though she like most of the other concilpersons are not necesarily notable outside the Bronx. User:Smith Jones 18:58, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Include all of her achievements with references on the page. They should have proper links to her website. I'll help you construct the page should you choose to proceed.keystoneridin! (talk) 19:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- thank you for your help! two of the achievemnets that I have located so far is that she is the first Hispanic woman to serve as the head of the Bronx Board of Elections, and she is also the first woman at all to serve as the head of the Committe for State and Federal law, which handled the Septemember 11th terRor attacks. I thought that these counted for some significant achievements.
- if you have time, I was wondering if you please could show me how to make reference tags better. I've noticed that whenever I want to use the same source for different sections i have to copy and paste the url but I have seen that in other articles thhere is a way to do it without making the same source appear multiple times in the reflist window. User:Smith Jones 19:08, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Like this: <ref name=myref>http://www.somewebsite.com</ref> for the first one and <ref name=myref></ref> for the second and future ones--TParis00ap (talk) 19:58, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Keep: I feel this article should not be speedily deleted. Perhaps AfD, but speedy delete does not include non-notability. Wikipedia:Articles_for_speedy_deletion specifically states under "Non criteria" notability. This article does not qualify as "obviously non notable" such as article's about 15 yr old high school students. This one has some stentch of notability being she is an elected councilwoman and other small achievements. An AfD would be more prudent--TParis00ap (talk) 20:00, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
