Twelve string acoustic models

[edit]

The naming of the early 12 strings may leave some a bit puzzled... in particular the claim that the CW80/12 pictured is a successor model to the FG150/12 that Keith Potger purchased as The Seekers began to gain momentum (it was featured in the introduction to one of their television specials at the time). CW of course stands for country and western while FG stands for folk guitar, but both models have the same dreadnought box and heeled neck, and more important the sweet tone so prominent in the sound of The Seekers. When I bought mine it was the only heeled Maton acoustic twelve then in production; The other acoustic twelve was the much more expensive Southern Star, with a bolt-on neck, an adjustable bridge, and a very bluesey tone.

There have since been many other CW80/12 models, which despite the model designation have very different tones to the early ones, many of them the bluesey sound which is more expected of country and western guitars. Andrewa 16:04, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tommy Emmanuel

[edit]

He's Australia's best known guitarist now? (I would have voted Angus Young) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.214.47.200 (talk) 13:51, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's an unencyclopedic comment either way, unless it's a sourced quotation. Andrewa (talk) 18:53, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mick Thomas

[edit]

NO

Could also be noted that Mick Thomas of Weddings Parties Anything also plays Maton guitar almost exclusively. He has been refered to as one of Australias best singer songwriters even second only to Paul kelly. He has also written a song about a Maton guitar made for Tommy Emannual which ended up with Mick called Tommy Didn't Wont YouSunko (talk) 01:59, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
