By the way the search function of www.photoguide.jp spits out the entries for matsuri. Hence, direct linking is not strictly neccessary. Its "about us" informs that it is a private initiative.
Talking about my own work (image gallery), i am choosy. This means i choose one picture for each thematic. However, extensive data streams are useful for some people.
Its a very personal question of taste. I made ~1000 pictures but not even 50 made it to my sites. It is not a critic or negative remark.
But, the official site has priority over any private initiative. The search function works well, as mentioned. Probably it is possible to narrow it to one link.

If there is to be a list of local festivals, it would be nice to see this expanded to include many more. -Jmh123 00:45, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Today i reformatted the "external links". I have put the photoguide.jp into a table (now it takes half the space). However not any article can take 50 such tables, not asking who creates them. Right now it should be OK, though there is a policy on creating a directory of external links. Akidd dublin•tl•ctr-l 17:09, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
extending this article, more matsuri articles, external links
[edit]People should include anything about matsuri, as long as it is not a unrelated business advert, because it is a stub. Later, it is possible to put the link(s) to the specific article. It is also thinkable to create an external wiki, to contain a long list of internet links. In addition, i do not do serious grammar mistakes, and edits can not be done ignoring this discussion. The policy about the external links asks "is it improving the article". Matsuri is a topic which is technically split up into numerous local events. External link policy does not have self-purpose. However, it should be considered to put the links into additional matsuri articles, or to an external wiki/webiste. Is is allright to collect them here, while the article is a stub.
Searching for matsuri, wikipedia appears at top position (1st entry). Hence, wikipedia figures a public part of the internet. It is not a link directory, but people should find links to relevant sites. This could be a website containing a directory, once enough links do exist. Otherwise, applying the policy literally is contra-productive, for researching the net about how to create additional matsuri articles.
People search the net, and in several cases the 1st result is a wikipedia entry. They are not searching for individual editors. Yy-bo 12:56, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Do we really a separate article for "matsuri"??
[edit]Matsuri a just a Japanese word for festival. Just because it happens in Japan does not mean its speical. I suggest this merging with festival. "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 01:22, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Matsuri is a word most people do not know, unless they speak Japanese. I suggest merging it with Japanese festival, not the master festival article, since festivals in Japan are specifically Japanese. This article, though, does not serve a purpose beyond Japanese festival, in my opinion. Erk 17:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Japanese festivals which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 16:00, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
