and then?
[edit]served 5 years in a Soviet prison camp... and then? it was released and came back to germany? or whatever? i think it should be explained better ;) --Lo'oris - ロホリス 23:36, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I have no idea after that :\ You could try asking at axishistory.com, which is generally the best site for tracking down German soldiers from that period, but having been there myself, I'm pretty sure they don't know. Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 01:06, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
The Link to his longest kill actually leads to a page about the American Civil War!!!!

Matthias or Matthäus?
[edit]Both the German wikipedia and das-ritterkreuz.de give his first name as Matthäus.--217.230.227.149 09:08, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I changed it accordingly in the article. But I don't know how to change the title, if someone else could do that, that'd be great.--217.230.227.149 09:15, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
K98
[edit]The current link for Hetzenauer's rifle goes to the Gewehr 98, the standard issue German rifle during World War One. It seems more likely that he would have used a Karabiner 98k, the Gewehr 98's replacement for World War Two which was also used as a sniper rifle. I could find no evidence one way or another on the given source website (being unable to understand German). 165.123.155.222 (talk) 22:56, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
"Im Auge des Jägers", Sepp Allerberger. Biographie of Hetzenauer, Do not know the english title. maybe you´ll find some information in there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.76.242.244 (talk) 08:50, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
why stub germany?
[edit]thought the guy is austrian?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.50.50.234 (talk) 00:35, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- The stub is for German Army, with which he served. I might add that's it possible to be Austrian-born yet associated with Germany: see Hitler, Adolf.--Brian Dell (talk) 20:53, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
"On multiple occasions he served with fellow sniper Josef Allerberger. They were able to inflict heavy casualties on Soviet infantry."
[edit]Isn't it Josef Allerberger a fictional character??
There are no photos of Matthäus Hetzenauer?
[edit]There are no photos of Matthäus Hetzenauer? No disrespect to the author intended when I say that it would be helpful to have a photo of Matthäus Hetzenauer. Perhaps someone can find one without committing the crime of "original research?" 2603:800C:3A40:6400:119E:31B3:E0FC:C6BF (talk) 04:27, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
