Chamran's Death

[edit]

Mostafa Chamran is speculated to have been assassinated by IRI because of his growing influence on Iranian soldiers during the war and his influence in Iranian political affairs. IRI also killed Ahmad Khomeini and many others who they report to have died of either heart attack (if it's outside the context of war), or died in battle. Believe that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.58.132.98 (talk) 02:23, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The idea of Chamran or Ahmad Khomeini's assassination by IRI is groundless; first of all, Ahmad Khomeini was the key figure in directing Majlis Khobregan Rahbari to elect Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the successor of Ayatollah Khomeini (Ahmad's father). Also he announced his support for Ayatollah Khamenei many times in his speeches and interviews, so there was no rationale for IRI to assassin such a supporter of IRI and supreme leader. If IRI was after assassinating someone for such a purpose, Ayatollah Montazeri was a higher threat, because he was to be the successor of Ayatollah Khomeini for years, but Ayatollah Khomeini banned him from any political activities in his last year of life.

Secondly, for Mr.Chamran, again there was no reason for IRI to assassinate him; there were so many influential figures in IRI during war time, if IRI was supposed to assassin the influential figures, there were better targets. Also, all evidences show the Chamran was highly loyal to IRI and ayatollah Khomeini, and was assigned many key posts by Ayatollah Khomeini. Also, at the time of Chamran's death, Banisadr was the president, and Chamran and Ayatollah Khamenei and all figures close to Ayatollah Khomeini were deeply in disagreement with Banisadr. What's more, according to many witnesses and the video footage of Chamran's death, he was severely injured by a direct artillery shot (or a mortar hit), and medics in the scene tried to recover him, but he died in action. Other Stuff

[edit]

This is an interesting topic to me as a fellow Alborz alumni. There is an unspoken connection between many of our alborz compatriots. Therefore, we should wish for this article to be not only as accurate as it can possibly be, but go beyond that. This article needs to make sense, first and foremost. Some of the statements have logical inconsistencies, it seems. Hence I propose for many people to read everything carefully and make ever more refinement to the article, just like a good, engineering project. I hope we can all work together, politics aside.
