Sinking
[edit]Article says current status of Damavand is 'Damaged' - in fact it has confirmed as sunk (https://twitter.com/BabakTaghvaee/status/957635053093376000) and also the separate wiki article for the ship. Sorry don't have enough experience to edit it myself 2A02:C7F:769B:F800:DCB3:FD2:A80:763E (talk) 14:41, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Alternate spellings of Moudge seem to be Mouj, Mowj or Mowaj. Which is right or are all used? What is the Farsi spelling of the ship class name? Also, a web forum claims Fars News is using pictures of a Kidd class destroyer and calling it Mowj. The story date is 04/12/1385 which is (I think) is February 23, 2007 similar to the date in this article which claims "Iran builds new naval destroyer". I'm not sure I understand why an image of the USS Kidd (DDG-993), a 9,783 ton former American destroyer, to depict a 1,400 ton corvette? For comparison, an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate is about 4,100 tons and a United States Coast Guard Famous class cutter like USCGC Tampa (WMEC-902) is 1,800 tons. --Dual Freq 03:37, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Mowj appears to mean "Wave" --Dual Freq 11:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Dual Freq this ships is not a corvette, it is a frigate. Moudge Mowj and Mowaj are all correct because the actual name is in Farsi and in an other alfabet so thyou can use different letters to translate it to English. The Honorable Kermanshahi 16:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Specifications
[edit]Specifications in the section and infobox need to be cited using a reliable source, ie. no blogs, no forums. --Dual Freq 02:09, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Google Earth
[edit]I've got the google earth source here: [1]. You see a part of Bandar Abbas. On the side you will see a list of ships, click on Mowj and you'll see it and a text with information about it. The Honorable Kermanshahi 14:40, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- That user created web forum is only reliable enough to verify that google earth users claimed to locate it. --Dual Freq 03:06, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
I have find a source for the infobox. The Honorable Kermanshahi
Mowj = Jamaran
[edit]According to this PressTV article, the recently launched Jamaran destroyer is part of the Mowj class ships. http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=118982§ionid=351020101
In any case, a comparison of the various YouTube videos and photos of the Mowj class and the recently launched Jamaran seems to confirm this. The photos from the launch can be found here. http://www.isna.ir/ISNA/NewsView.aspx?ID=News-1493593&Lang=P
