Missing Information

[edit]

well, what instruments does he play, or is he a conductor? what was he trained in at berklee? this info may need to be included in the article to make it comprehensive. I believe that he plays vibes and percussion. ciao —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.102.162.14 (talk) 07:42, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added info in the opening paragraph, though there could be more. Morganfitzp (talk) 15:29, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

We need a complete discography. Please contribute. - Gus (T, C) 2010-08-17 01:23Z

Yes, and each album needs:
  1. Format
  2. Year
  3. Label
  4. Country

Astatke appears on too many compilations for them all to be listed here. And album track listings should not appear in the artists' discography, but under separate articles for each album, if they are of note. Morganfitzp (talk) 20:46, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chronology

[edit]

Many gaps in Mulatu's bio here, most notably between the early 1970s and the 2000s. Where was he for 30 years? What was he up to, both musically and personally? Morganfitzp (talk) 20:46, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I felt the need to add the following:

On Éthiopiques and the copyright of Francis Falceto (Buda Musique record company), in an interview with Getatchew Mekurya published by Ethiopian Reporter in January 2012 Getatchew Mekurya, the famous Ethiopian jazz saxophonist, says: I think that is one of the reasons why Mulatu Astatke despises Frances Falceto. He does not want to see his face. Even if he was able to contribute to the recognition of our music worldwide, on the other hands he used us. He is making tons of money. I do not work with him; I work with other musicians and promoters and I think he is not happy with that fact.[1]
