I question the given number of appearances and goals Néstor Lorenzo. This page states that he has 13 apps and 1 goal for Argentina. As far as I have found, he has played 12 games for Argentina and scored no goals.
In 1988 he played Saudi Arabia twice, and once against Brazil and Australia, all in the Australian Bicentennial Gold Cup. In 1989 he played against Ecuador and Chile. In 1990 he played friendlies against Austria, Switzerland and Israel, and in the World Cup against Cameroon, USSR and West Germany. That's 12 games played and no goals scored.
So which game is the one that is supposed to be his thirteenth appearance, and the one he must have scored his single goal at international level?
Could it be the friendly Argentina played in Belfast on the 3rd of April 1990 against Northern Ireland club side Linfield as part of their lead up to the World Cup finals in 1990? Lorenzo scored the only goal in that game. But I don't know any cases of national team appearances in friendlies against club teams being counted as full international caps. And I don't think Linfield was the only club team Argentina played against that year. Tullerusk (talk) 16:23, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
