Meaning of Nahuel
[edit]Yeah... I'm only here because this made the front page, but I found it unlikely that Nahuel meant tiger, because there are no New World tigers. An investigation indicates it means puma. 133.101.207.16 (talk) 01:07, 7 April 2011 (UTC) That was me. Wasn't logged in. Sorry. Micah.t.ross (talk) 04:30, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- In mapudungun the word for puma is pangui (for example Panguipulli), while nahuel means[1] jaguar. Before the massive immigration of Europeans to the zone jaguars were common in these areas. Now they are extint here. The translation into tiger is a mistranlation from Spanish were jaguars were called tigres. Dentren | Talk 17:55, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Volcanic Ash
[edit]this area was presumably all covered by volcanic ash from the 2011 Puyehue eruption - I guess there will have been other impact too, but it probably deserves a mention somewhere EdwardLane (talk) 14:23, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
