Unsourced speculation/OR

[edit]

Per the AfD, the part that I thought needed to be clarified:

While there was some speculation that it would be a launch title for the PS3

This and a handful of other claims need sources, but I don't think that's a big deal overall. Thanks for putting the time into improving this, JohnnyMrNinja. czar · · 20:19, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I rephrased it so that it doesn't draw too much from the source, which is "With the PS3 expected to arrive in Japan in spring of 2006, this would suggest that KOEI does not intend to release Ni-Oh as a launch title."[1] The ref was there, it was just also the ref for the following sentences. I also added a second ref to the "The game missed the initial 2006 release window without comment from Koei." Kotaku - "But it was never released. Ni-Oh! just...vanished." I've also been careful to not say that the film was canceled, even though the refs say that, there was no announcement that I know of, so again it's only implication. There is an "Incomplete" tag on the article now, but I honestly can't find info from RSs (at least in English) that would add anything else to the article at this time. Let me know if there are any other issues, thanks. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 20:54, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good work. Thank you czar · · 22:04, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's Nioh (or NIOH) not Ni-Oh

[edit]

At least it is now. Cite from Sony's reveal video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH5UG7AMhOY with the title clearly shown to lack the dash seen at 1:26. 68.51.193.141 (talk) 20:08, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Changed protagonist's background to that of Irishman

Kou Shibusawa

[edit]

Kou Shibusawa is not, and never was a real person. Even Koei's own site acknowledges that it is essentially a brand http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/Kou_Shibusawa.199.48.106.4 (talk) 19:16, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

William Adams

[edit]

Currently the lead says "the plot follows the journeys of William Adams, an Irish sailor named after and inspired by the historic Englishman who became one of the only ever Western samurai." which is a mouthful, but surely 'named after and inspired by' is just a convoluted way of saying that the character is [[William Adams (pilot)]], albeit fictionalized? The same way Edward Kelley is listed in this article as [[Edward Kelley]] and not some other character named after and inspired by him? Or John Smith from the film Pocahontas, for comparison? What I'm driving at it that it seems like someone has inserted a disctinction without a difference. It doesn't read well and is needlessly confusing. The IGN article just says "Yasuda said the main character is based off a real-life person that came from Europe to Japan and later became a samurai." so perhaps we can just rephrase it "the plot follows a fictionalized [[William Adams]]" or more indirectly "the plot follows William Adams, based on the [[historic European sailor who became a samurai]]" (incidentally there's an entire article on foreign-born samurai, so 'only ever Western samurai' is unsourced and basically untrue, or at the very least contentious).
