During the World War I he joined the 11th Siberian infantry.[citation needed] Rich Farmbrough. 03:40, 24 February 2006 (UTC) See his DNB article: http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/93295[reply]

Another spelling of his name seems to be POLAKOVS. His tombstone seems to say this. Myrvin (talk) 14:53, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Poļakovs is the Latvian version of his name. Philaweb T 21:07, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The cause of his death seems to be a matter of contention. Some say he died of gunshot wounds in New York. His DNB article (calling him: Polakovs [Poliakoff, Poliakov], Nicholai) says "When the Mills Christmas shows at Olympia ceased, he concentrated on his road safety activities until returning to the circus world in 1974, when he toured with the Roberts Brothers' family show. During that tour he was taken ill with emphysema and bronchitis, and died in the District Hospital, Peterborough on 25 September 1974." Myrvin (talk) 15:13, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I am proposing that Coco the Clown should be merged with this article, as I see no justification for two articles on the same man. Malleus Fatuorum 13:28, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable biographical information

[edit]

It is in oral form with no transcript, but there is a BBC programme called Desert Island Discs that interviewed him about his life and this is available in the BBC Archive.
