Citations???[edit]

Someone needs to reference this article- for all we know it could be utter nonsense. I do it myself but I'm not sure I'm brave enough.~~EmigalJelli:)~~

Go for it! I'll keep an eye on this article and help you if you need helping. I use Citation_template a lot. If you're looking for articles, here are a few, although you may have better access than I do:

[1] This one discusses the leopard complex in Norikers.
[2] This one is about inbreeding/small gene pools and poor fertility in the Noriker.
[3] This one is also about the small gene pool.
[4] If you can get the full article for this one, I'm sure it would contain a lot of data about their conformation. This kind of stuff is very rare!
[5] Here is the Austrian registry's website. If you click "Rassen" ("Breed", same root as "Race") you can get breed profiles.
Maybe you know all this :) Anyway, be brave. Countercanter (talk) 13:12, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Noriker?[edit]

Suggest moving this page to Noriker. The word "horse" seems superfluous, as it's not normally used in English, Italian or (I believe) German, and not needed for disambiguation. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:14, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My tendency is to leave the ones that are this way alone because all we need is one moron to claim any other use of the word and voila, stupid disambiguation fight or even stupider [[WP:PRIMARY] fight. I lost several of these a few years back and sort of gave it up. So I guess I wouldn't kick if you moved it, I found a definition that said "the name Noriker is derived from the state of Noricum, a vassal province of the Roman Empire corresponding roughly to present-day Austria." But my feeling as a veteran of some really stupid, lame, wiki-wars is "it don't itch, why scratch it?" Montanabw(talk) 19:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Consistency? An irrepressible urge to pick at nits? Anyway, where do I put the thing that says "if you looking for the Pinzgauer cow, go here'? (Pinzgauer (horse) redirects here) Up at the top, or down with the ATV? Or not at all? It's a real shame she has gone, this would be a neat article if only it was referenced to the sources. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:31, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's a dablink. Feel free to fix. I'd try {{redirect|Pinzgauer (horse)|the cattle breed|Pinzgau Cattle|other uses|Pinzgauer}} or whatever article name gets you where people need to go. It will look like this: For more on how to do these, see Wikipedia:Disambiguation. Montanabw(talk) 03:51, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oberlander[edit]

Well, shall we restore Oberlander horse? Do you have any other source that the Oberlander = the Noriker? The Americans seem to think the horses they imported from Bavaria are related to the Noriker, and if we just erase them from wikipedia, someone is inevitably going to recreate the article, so I'd prefer to address the issue somehow. Let's discuss further. Montanabw(talk) 23:38, 30 October 2014 (UTC) Follow up: if we took Oberlander to an AfD, I doubt it would be deleted, per https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=oberlander+horse FWIW, they also appear to be cashing in on them here. Abtenauer merge discussion[edit]

I proposed this merge because the Abtenauer states that it is a subtype of the Noriker. If so, seems better to have one comprehensive article than two short ones. Montanabw(talk) 20:06, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Support. Same type should be same article. I see no reason why they should be separate. BananaCarrot152 (talk) 09:18, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Montanabw, BananaCarrot152, agreed and  Done. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:48, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
