Robes?
[edit]I would like to know who other black robes are. I believe Duke Roger of Conte, Lord Master Thom of Trebond, and Inar Hadensra all may have been black robes. However, thay are all dead by the end of In the Realms of the Gods. Eddisford 21:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)eddisford
- I think (but am not sure) but Roger is probably a black robe. Lindhall Reed may have been one too, but I don't have the book in my possession to check. Katsuhagi 19:45, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
I think Lindhall Reed is just a master(red robe)I doubt Blayce the Gallan is, but he could be (why do all these possible black robes die??) Roger is definately a black robe. Who else could send thesweating sickness all the way from Carthak? The books never mention what robe Roger is, but if he was in Carthak to send the sweating sickness, he may have been at the university75.4.55.248 23:22, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Eddisford I made an article titled "The Contes". Eddisford 22:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC) Roger was never a black robe-- he didn't go to the Carthaki university, to study a full "college" sort of term. He did study there during the Sweating Sickness, but I think that that was just a cover. However, he and Thom were the magical equivalents of one, without the title. Lindhall DEFINITELY wasn't one. 71.80.121.174 01:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Raecell
- I would need to look at my book to check for certain, but I think Inar Hadensra was mentioned as someone who could have been a black robe, but wasn't because he had chosen not to do the training. I think the quote is in the Realms of the Gods volume of the Immortals series Silverthorn 14:02, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Sources, coherency, etc.
[edit]I have to say, I really don't like this particular article. It is not accessible to a reader, and I'm honestly not sure where some of these things have come from. I have never heard that Numair's name is in any way related to "panther" or "haven," for starters, and it would be great if someone could find the interview with Tamora Pierce in which she said that his appearance was based on Jeff Goldblum's. I'm not challenging that statement, but it's in parentheses in the article itself (which annoys me because I'm a stickler for grammar and it's really bad form to do this anyway) that that came from an interview with her. I figure that if that's gonna be mentioned, then it should be sourced.
Also, while not grammatically incorrect, the structure of the article itself is less like an article and more like a narrative, and, frankly, the sentences are just too long. Again, grammatically correct, but they drive me up a wall because a sentence is supposed to express one idea rather than one idea and half of the next idea. Writing like that makes the article harder to follow, and it annoys me because I'm just neurotic. (My apologies.) Also, I'm thinking that this was written in a primarily in-universe style, problem as cited from the Wikipedia page on writing about fiction: "a fictional character article or section written like a biography."
If anyone knows anything about the two things that might need sourcing or other ways to improve the article...? Dreamsfalldown (talk) 18:32, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
