  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Lead

[edit]
  • It would be better for the lead to be more than just a single sentence in one paragraph such as adding more of Oleka's achievements

Early life

[edit]
  • "Oleka grew up in Washington, D.C. with his mother and brother." - a reference is needed to verify the accuracy of this information
  • "He played high school basketball at Florida Christian Institute in Cape Coral, Florida, where he averaged 24 points and 11 rebounds as a senior." - same issue as above
  • "He also played AAU ball with DC Assault." - Amateur Athletic Union basketball

State College of Florida, Manatee–Sarasota

[edit]
  • "However, he was academically ineligible to play for a major college, so he instead started playing JUCO ball at the State College of Florida, Manatee–Sarasota (SCF Manatee–Sarasota) in 2012. " - a reference is required to verify that this portion of text is correct
  • "February 18–24, 2013" - 18 to 24,
  • "During his second season, he signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Texas Longhorns," - letter of intent (LOI) to play college basketball with
  • "He was subsequently released from his LOI by Texas." - a slight reword is in order since it is too close to the wording in The Arizona Republic
  • "while taking classes at Cecil College in North East, Maryland." - The Arizona Republic only says Maryland not North East, Maryland

Arizona State

[edit]
  • "In the spring of 2015," - avoid using seasons per MOS:SEASON
  • "He made his debut as a Sun Devil" - for the team
  • "He made his debut as a Sun Devil against Sacramento State on November 13, 2015," - will need an extra reference that explicitly states this information
  • "In 32 games, he had averages of 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest while the Sun Devils lost in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Pac-12 Conference Tournament." - this sentence is not referenced and a reliable citation that explicitly states this information will need to be added to the end of it
  • "In 2016–17, Oleka started all but one of the 33 games he played, averaging 12.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game." - same issue as above
  • "Despite being 6’8," - the {{convert}} template will need to be used on the text in bold
  • "It was his 15th double-double of the season, tying Ike Diogu for the most in school history since they joined the then-Pac-10 Conference in 1978." - this sentence will need to be verified by a reliable source
  • "However, the Sun Devils lost by a score of 80–57 to Oregon, again in the quarterfinals, in what was Oleka's final college game. His 327 rebounds that year were the third-best mark in school history at the time." - both of these sentences will need reliable sources backing them up

Professional career

[edit]
  • "averaging 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game." - needs a reliable citation to verify this information
  • "but went undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft." - same issue as above
  • "He played in a limited role off the bench for the club, appearing in 13 games and averaging 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest before leaving in January 2018." - same issue as above
  • "In 23 games with the Edge, he averaged 7.6 points and 10.4 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game." - a reliable citation is needed to verify this sentence
  • "He parted ways with the team in January 2020." - same issue as above

Career statistics: College

[edit]
  • The college statistics table needs to be completely verified with reliable sources

Personal life

[edit]
  • "Oleka is of Nigerian descent, and has a Nigerian passport." - needs a citation to verify

References

[edit]
  • Reference 11 "2017 team rosters" is missing the publisher and access date
  • References 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 and 25 need to include the translated titles of the Spanish language titles
  • Reference 26 needs to mention the translated title from its original Hungarian title
  • Same issue for Reference 29, a Swedish language reference
  • Reference 20 "Men in the middle were centrepieces in St. John's Edge's win over Lightning" is from Newsbreak, a deprecated source per WP:RSP. According to that page, as an news aggregator, it must be replaced by the original source

There are too many issues to be addressed in a GA review, and will therefore fail this review. The article can be renominated once the nominator has addressed all of the points raised above. MWright96 (talk) 15:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct.
  • choosing them over from schools like – instead of like put such as
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
  • The lead could be a bit bigger talking more about his career
  • Despite being 6’8, he played at center – Would suggest changing this as despite is a word to watch
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline.
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose).
  • What makes Capitol Hoops, jucorecruiting.com, cronkitesports.com, basquetplus.com, laverdadonline.com, Sportando, lineadirectaportal.com, interperformances.com, and Afrobasket.com. reliable sources
2c. it contains no original research.
  • However, the Sun Devils lost by a score of 80–57 to Oregon, again in the quarterfinals, in what was Oleka's final college game. His 327 rebounds that year were the third-best mark in school history at the time. – These sentences need to have a source
  • Ref 3, 30, and 38 are dead links
  • Spotchecks for refs 1, 10, 19, 20, and 39 are good. ref 41 does not specify the game was on March 27
2d. it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism.
  • The copyvio detector detects a 40.1% of copyvio possibility, but that is a case of them copying Wikipedia
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
7. Overall assessment.
