Reverts

[edit]

This edit has been made and reverted several times: I've just removed it again. Although some of the changes in the edit are innocuous, some introduce rather unencyclopedic language "a reputation for its rich, warm & friendly atmosphere"; "The Gilson National School is considered the 'Gem in the Crown of Oldcastle's architecture'" instead of "said by the local Chamber of Commerce to be..." It also introduces unsourced information and breaks a link (since there's no article called a head shop). If BBKing234 (talk · contribs) or someone else is in favour of particular changes within the edit, please make them individually or discuss them here first; but don't keep reverting the whole thing which contains manifestly non-constructive changes. Thanks! Olaf Davis (talk) 11:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Clonlyne/Clonlyons

[edit]

'I find from the list of authorities quoted in the name Book that the parish of Oldcastle was otherwise called Clonlyne, but the name is now forgotten in the Country.' - John O'Donovan, 30 July 1836 'Of the Parish of Oldcastle' in Ordnance Survey Letters County Meath (Dublin, 2001), p. 34. 'Clonlyons' gets a mention in the Oldcastle entry in the superb Logainm.ie website. Does anybody know anything else about Clonlyne/Clonlyons being a synonym for Oldcastle? 109.77.251.125 (talk) 15:12, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nature / status

[edit]

At population of 800-1,383 over many years, can this really be described as any sort of "town"? Surely, whatever it might have been at some time, this is now a village? SeoR (talk) 00:14, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
