Someone should probably note here that the famous La Jetée begins and ends with a violent event on the main terminal at Orly. Ixtli 21:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Move 2008

Why is this here? Orly Airport is a disambiguation page and to me seems the more logical place for this. Though why it's not at Paris - Orly Airport which appears to be the correct name is not clear either. So I think a move is in order. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

When did airline flights start?

"Orly was reactivated as a commercial airport on 1 January 1948"

TWA's timetables say they were using Orly in 1946. Tim Zukas (talk) 22:13, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Paris-Orly AirportOrly Airport – The hyphen in the name here is peculiar in the extreme. Books that don't call it Orly Airport usually call it Paris Orly Airport, which would also be OK as an article title. The few cases that use the hyphen seem to intend it as a dash, often spaced to show that. Relisted. BDD (talk) 07:01, 21 October 2012 (UTC) Dicklyon (talk) 05:55, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

That's wrong; that document calls it "PARIS ORLY". Dicklyon (talk) 01:18, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Look again: the address of the airport management is "Direction de l’Aéroport de PARIS-ORLY". You can also check Aéroports de Paris website that also uses "Paris-Orly" (and "Paris-Charles de Gaulle). Slasher-fun (talk) 09:35, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
That is the French name. On fr: it is called "Aéroport Paris-Orly". Many of our articles on airports in France have superfluous hyphens and dashes. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports#New RfC. We use Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, but Orly seems more common than Paris Orly or Paris - Orly or Paris-Orly. Charles de Gaulle seems more common, though, 2,770,000 vs. 1,360,000 google hits. If I subtract the 1.36 million that are common to both I get 1.41 million that do not use Paris vs. 1.36 million that do use Paris. If I check google books I get only 2,220 that use Paris and 18,080 that do not. Apteva (talk) 22:57, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Under "Indicateur d’emplacement - nom de l’aérodrome Aerodrome location indicator - name" it says "LFPO - PARIS ORLY". Dicklyon (talk) 06:17, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
They did once call it Orly in... 1995. They also called it Paris-Orly in 2010. Slasher-fun (talk) 12:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
That's because London Gatwick airport has actually been renamed Gatwick airport 2 years ago (it's in the history section in the article) Slasher-fun (talk) 21:23, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
I think the article should be renamed Paris Orly Airport Mark999 (talk) 00:25, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
Why? Stating your opinion, without giving the reasons, is not very helpful. See WP:JDLI. --Born2cycle (talk) 22:35, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Oppose "Orly Airport" without Paris, but support "Paris Orly Airport" without hyphen. This is both the official and the most common spelling. --RJFF (talk) 10:04, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Charles de Gaulle Airport which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 01:58, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

This is to reconsider the choice between Paris Orly Airport and Orly Airport and same for CDG. Dicklyon (talk) 02:00, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
