Notability[edit]

He is not notable for being the son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán‎, but of having a significant position and control of the Sinaloa Cartel since his father was extradited to USA. Rowan Forest (talk) 22:26, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Collusion entry[edit]

The context of his release is that the cartel sent gunmen to the apartment complex where the families of military personnel were housed. All access routes were blocked with burning vehicles and gun fire, so nobody could have intervened for their families. The narcos also threatened terrorism in the city by shooting civilians at random. So, the President openly ordered the release of Ovidio, so it was not like a few corrupt officers looked the other way and let him "escape". It was extortion. The information on the [vast] corruption in this war is remarked at Mexican Drug War#Government corruption. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rowan Forest (talkcontribs) 22:40, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

...which this article and the Battle of Culiacán article already cite. They already mentioned the extortion by the cartel by the time this comment was made.--EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 15:26, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@EdgarCabreraFariña: Quite late to the party. I think we have to remark the strong inconsistencies from the President himself, and have the reader interpret it as ineptitude or corruption. Rowan Forest (talk) 16:54, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Rowan Forest: Fair enough. Just after having made my comment here, I found some info from an ex-DEA official claiming that the Mexican released "misleading information", so I guess we can start from there.--EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 10:44, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. Go ahead, please. Whether incompetence or corruption by AMLO, reporting his dramatic inconsistencies in Wikipedia is more encyclopedic than conspiracy theories. Cheers, Rowan Forest (talk) 14:32, 4 November 2019‎ (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, I'll look into it. I know what you say, what with AMLO's "yo tengo otros datos" evasives being certainly a worrisome pattern, and I've seen international media report into the mañaneras, so there's material. Cheers, EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 14:54, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AMLO is actually a VIP. Viejo Inutil y Pend. Given his vast ignorance, incompetence, and inclination to insult and demean the security forces, there is talk of a coup brewing. ([1], [2]) The outcome of this raid was a catalyst. But that is best documented at the Mexican Drug War article. Cheers, Rowan Forest (talk) 17:32, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All I have to say is: Wow, and wow. The rift with the military was something that I ignored. Guess that I'll have to give it an even closer look at the matter, especially now with the Mormon family massacre. Greetings, EdgarCabreraFariña (talk) 11:50, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mother's name[edit]

I have removed the mother's name. First, this is attributed by the source to a journalist, not stated as fact. Second, the source never identifies his mother as far as I can tell. GA-RT-22 (talk) 22:06, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
