I just installed this program, but my avast! antivirus detected a Trojan... so what should I do? Is this program corrupted? Just get it off my PC and plead for a warning on this site about these kinds of programs?
A. Toh, the Netherlands
- To my information, there is no Trojan in this program. It's probably just a false positive. -download | sign! 22:03, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Where is CCTV?
Please help me on this, I installed PPLive so I could watch CCTV but I can't find it anywhere in the list. Where is CCTV>
It has been commented in Talk that PPlive was detected as a virus. There are a number of possible reasons which lie in its behaviour:
1. The latest version of PPlive (3.3.0) runs a silent install that associates most media file types with itself. Developers need to address this or PPlive certainly could be said to behave very like an infection, in that it has unintended and for the most part unwanted consequences. 2. Another thing PPlive has done since earlier versions is to set itself to run on startup, opening a sharing node. If running PPlive and not wanting to consume bandwidth unwittingly, users need to run msconfig each time they close PPlive to stop this running. 3. PPlive does not exit fully when it is closed. It leaves an associated process called PPAP running, keeping the P2P node open consuming bandwidth. This has to be shut down as a process every time you exit PPLive.
If the developers want to comment on this I would be grateful for their submissions. Anyone else having knowledge of how to configure/adapt PPlive to prevent these problems please also comment. Thenetdoctor (talk) 02:49, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
