Is Paleothermometer a good title? Merge into Proxy (climate)?

[edit]

I don't recall seeing this term used in the paleoclimate literature, and note it is not in the titles of any reference cited here (tho there is one paper with "paleothermometry"). So I'm wondering if this is a good title, and why this isn't a part of the paleoclimatology article? It seems misleading to call a paleoclimate proxy a "Paleothermometer." Comments? TIA, Peter D. Tillman (late, forgotten SIG)

I don't think the title is a problem. But the enormous overlap with proxy (climate) is William M. Connolley (talk) 07:36, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So -- should we tag it for a merge? Not a lot would survive, at first glance. Best, Pete Tillman (talk) 20:14, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Prooobably. The only wrinkle is that proxy, of itself, isn't just temperature - it also includes wind and precip. But, most attention focusses on temperature William M. Connolley (talk) 20:42, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
