Opening[edit]

What year were the first houses built and moved into? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.230.7.69 (talk) 23:19, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is the most important piece of missing information. The initial development of the canals is excellent, but the later details with dates is currently missing. As is when the first homes were built. There are aerial photos in Patterson Lakes community centre of the late 1980s with a few houses built on the canal system. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.35.135.171 (talk) 03:21, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"It is also known as being the suburb where hit Australian comedy Kath & Kim is filmed."

I've deleted this because it's not correct. Kath & Kim live in the imaginary suburb Fountain Lakes which must be somewhere between Fountian Gate and Patterson Lakes. Tatty 22:58, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note the article said is filmed, not is set. However, we don't have a reference for the original statement - can anyone help? -- Chuq 01:29, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've lived in Patterson Lakes for some time, it's one of Melbourne's smaller suburbs and I believe I have a failrly profound picture of the geography. Almost all of the property of the size and age featured in the programme has a lakeside frontage - hence Patterson Lakes. I am absolutely certain that the aerial shots in the intro are not Patterson Lakes having flown over it many times myself. I could be wrong but I'd be very surprised if it is filmed there. I've sent an email to the contact address on the Kath & Kim website...waiting for a reply. Tatty 09:59, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I got a couple of hits searching the internet; one of which is from the Herald Sun (1st Oct 2005) quoting Barry Humpries during a break on set in Patterson Lakes. Looks like I could be wrong in which case I'll reinstate the original text. I'd still bet my granny that he aerial shot is somewhere else. Tatty 10:31, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't live there - unless you count for 2-10 days at a time over the last few years where I stay with relatives! I agree, I can't pick anywhere in the aerial shots - the waterways area, the shopping centre, the river - I stay in the northern "non waterways" area, and although I haven't memorised the road layout, it doesn't look familiar to me either. imdb seems to suggest it is Patterson Lakes though. -- Chuq 11:11, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
So it's Lagoon Place? I'll nip around there tomorrow, see if I can spot Kath's house and maybe put this one to bed. Tatty 12:49, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good - a photo would be great :) -- Chuq 13:35, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I walked around Lagoon Place this morning. There are a dozen or so houses and none of them struck me as being the same as the exterior shots of Kath’s house. I don’t have the DVD of the series but it’s being aired on ABC at the moment so I’ll take a closer look. Kim would say it's effluent enough. The aerial shots are categorically not there because all the houses are within ten metres of water: whereis. Meantime I will reinstate similar content to the original article pending a reply to my email or further comment. Anyway, this filming – true or false – is not the most noteworthy point about Patterson Lakes so I have also added further content as balance. This is my first contribution and will add further snippets as they come to mind. I’ll also add photos given time. Likewise for Carrum.
The Kath and Kim house if Located at 4 Lagoon Place, Patterson Lakes. I havent been there myself yet but am wanting to. I have put this address on here although you can find it at other locations i will trust that you will use it responsibly and not invade. It may not have struck you as being Kath's because the fence put up in Kath and Kim is fake! Hope that helps you, The Aerial shots are taken from the outer suburbs i beleive! 220.240.60.206
