Operation Plum?
[edit]Someone please explain to me how that Operation PLUM applies to the Pensacola convoy when the deployment that took place more than a month before on WINFIELD SCOTT carrying the personnel for two pursuit squadrons, a div-bomber group and an air base group were also identified as PLUM? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.54.222.20 (talk) 16:28, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- "Plum" was the code name for the Philippines in written communication, so that personnel could be issued travel orders without their destination being divulged. Equipment/gear being shipped also had "Plum" stenciled on it. Referring to this particular convoy as an "operation", much less "Operation Plum", does appear misleading. If necessary, it will be challenged for citation.--Reedmalloy (talk) 08:53, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- Instead I deleted the references as trivia immaterial to the article.--Reedmalloy (talk) 10:40, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
