Requested move 25 November 2017[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. We can go ahead with this rename, because while the opposer is correct, a look at Category:Human name disambiguation pages shows that Freds, Gregs, Jacks, Mikes, Nicks and so on are disambiguated on occasion. Nickname disambiguation is not the norm; however, there are precedents for it. Happy Holidays to all! (closed by page mover)  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  03:34, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Philip MurphyPhil Murphy (disambiguation) – All of the people listed except Philip Francis Murphy use "Phil Murphy" for their names. The current title should become a redirect to that exception, or the exception moved to the current title. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:57, 25 November 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. • Relist comment. Two WikiProjects, Disambiguation and Anthroponymy, have been notified upon the second relist in an attempt to garner consensus.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  01:45, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I was going to propose this but didn't get around to it. There's not a single "Philip Murphy" on this page. The proposed title is superior. Nohomersryan (talk) 20:21, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose we usually use full names for anthroponymy articles and dab lists if possible, since they are all born Philip. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:50, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • That's not true. Both the rugby players have their first names listed solely as Phil. Nohomersryan (talk) 20:57, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      • I guarantee you per WP:FULLNAME they were not christened "Phil" on their birth certificates, nor on their driving licences. See Phil Murphy (footballer). Even if they were this is a dab page, we usually list James X not Jim X, John X not Jack X for name dabs. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:49, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
