Healy
[edit]The Healy should be removed from this article since it is not part of the Polar class it is just a USCG Ice Breaker of which there is two effective classes the Polar Class and the Healy Class. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tbonnie (talk • contribs) 02:29, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed as even the USCG only refers to Polar Star and Polar Sea when talking about the Polar class icebreakers. In addition, we should disambiguate for e.g. the new Canadian icebreaker, which is also referred to as the "Polar class" icebreaker, and perhaps mention the IMO Polar Class rules as well, as in the future there will be a lot of ships with a "polar class"... - Healy is a medium icebreaker, not a heavy icebreaker (atleast according to Popular Mechanics a couple of months ago) so should be removed. This article needs to be remodeled into a standard ship class article. An overview article of all all-year-round USCG polar icebreakers ("heavy" and "medium" icebreakers) can be created, but it should not be in this class article. (Canadian CG also calls its "heavy" and "medium", instead of using PC ratings (and "light", but those aren't year round polar capable) ) ... according to PopMech, Canada has 6 polar-capable icebreakers and USA 2 (Healy and Polar Star) -- 70.24.247.127 (talk) 13:37, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Regarding the classification of icebreakers, one should emphasize that calling some icebreakers "heavy" or "medium" is not an universal classification. However, I agree with the removal of Healy from this article, as per my previous post. Perhaps we should move this page to USCG Polar class icebreaker and turn Polar class icebreaker into a disambiguation page for USCG and CCG "Polar class" icebreakers as well as the IACS Polar Class? Tupsumato (talk) 14:34, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- That would be acceptable for me. -- 70.24.247.127 (talk) 21:22, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, as per this discussion, the correct title would be USCG Polar-class icebreaker which, again, is a redirect to this page. Tupsumato (talk) 21:41, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- I like your suggestion. Make the current page USCG Polar-class icebreaker as a class page. Healy is in a class by itself, but with the new emphasis on polar operations, if the Coast Guard could get funding for additional ships, there would probably be more follow on ships in the class. Budget doesn't look good now, though. Cuprum17 (talk) 21:56, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- IMHO, Healy does not belong to any specific class, so there's no need for a class article in addition to USCGC Healy (WAGB-20). Tupsumato (talk) 06:26, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
...and the discussion at the project page was closed and archived. So, what shall we do? Tupsumato (talk) 17:03, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Coast guard flag.gif
[edit]Image:Coast guard flag.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
