[edit]For those interested in possibly working to expand this article, this piece in the Pomona College Magazine could help. Other citing or references for this article would be useful too.-Vter4life 06:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
DYK possibilities
[edit]...that the Pomona College Organic Farm was begun as a guerrilla movement when students started composting dining hall waste and planting crops in an unused corner of campus?
...that the Pomona College administration bulldozed students' first (unsanctioned) attempt to build a superadobe earth dome at the Pomona College Organic Farm, but later institutionalized the farm?

- ... that the Pomona College administration bulldozed students' first (unsanctioned) attempt to build a superadobe earth dome at the Pomona College Organic Farm before later helping fund its replacement (pictured)? Source: [1] "In the summer of 2002, the first earth dome was constructed, built to be small enough to not require permitting from the City of Claremont. However, the Administration still had lingering safety concerns about the structure and fenced it off and bulldozed it on the first day of class in the Fall of 2002. In April 2003, the second earth dome project was started, with funding from Ronald Fleming ’63 and an allocation from the president of the college."
- ALT1:... that the Pomona College Organic Farm was begun as a guerrilla movement when students started composting dining hall waste and planting crops in an unused corner of campus? Source: [2] "The Farm began as a guerilla movement by a group of students in 1998 who were composting food waste from the dining halls in an open spot in the Wash on Pomona College’s campus. They began to plant crops and fruit trees in this area and slowly expanded the Farm site"

- My first QPQ. . . Article length has been expanded 5 times. No broken links. No active disputes. Only issues I have would be to revise and shorten hook to something like the following: "... that the first superadobe earth dome at the Pomona College Organic Farm was demolished by college administration for safety reasons before later funding its replacement (pictured)? - Ahsoka Dillard, thanks for the review! Your rewrite unfortunately I think introduces faulty parallelism, and thus won't work grammatically. (The administration is not the subject of the sentence, so "before later..." isn't a proper reference.) {{u|Sdkb}} talk 23:43, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sdkb, Ah, true! I guess my impulse was that I wanted the earth dome (really interesting with cool pic!) to be foregrounded in the DYK instead of the college administration (boring!). My $.02. Ahsoka Dillard (talk) 23:53, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

- Pulled from the 8 slot per request by Sdkb to run in the 1 slot (image slot). Another set builder can feel free to do so if they wish. I think it's better in the 8 slot.
- ALT2 ... that the first superadobe earth dome at the Pomona College Organic Farm was built by students without authorization and demolished by the administration (replacement pictured)?
- Copied from above. For the future, if you want a specific hook to run, strike through the other ones so it's the only one left. Also, make sure any hook you want considered is either in the ALT0 slot, or begins with a bolded ALT#. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 20:02, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
