Air pollution

The section is well-written, but it needs sources. According to whom is all that the truth? Dirtydan667 14:53, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I heard the information first-hand in a presentation from the founder of a Houston environmental law firm. I was able to find an article by a Houston radio station for a little more credibility. I hope it's okay that i removed your unverified box. Feel free to let me know if you feel it's still inadequate. –Ua747sp 19:42, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think the section is a go without the unverified tag at this point. Good job with it. I'll try to find some hard numbers to provide further information; or maybe someone else with more research prowess (than me) can. Specifically, some data is needed that either demonstrates or refutes that the toxins that are undeniably present are causing problems in P.A. above national averages. Dirtydan667 04:44, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its still unverified, and hearing information first hand constitutes original research, unless you can find this partner's speech transcript and post. There may be some correlation between industrial emissions and cancer rates, but cities such as Baytown and Deer Park have much larger installations, and their articles make no mention of air quality at all. "Hearing information first hand constitutes original research" is not true. The original research (presumably) was done by the speaker. He/she would be a source for members of the audience, just as a book would be. The issue would be verifiability, not OR. Applejuicefool (talk) 17:23, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, which is why I included "...unless you can find this partner's speech transcript and post". The terminolgy was wrong, the end result is the same. I apologize, still trying to figure out the particulars of Wikipedia.140.158.33.101 (talk) 15:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

unsourced material

[edit]

I removed unsourced material on this edit. Please identify the source clearly if you are going to re-add it, this one looked like a unattributed copy/paste of somewhere else. Also, be careful to keep a neutral point of view. In this case, since no source is provided, it's imposible to verify whether the wording is a personal appreciation of the editor, or if it's an objective valoration from a reliable source. --Enric Naval (talk) 09:02, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Section reference tag

[edit]

I removed the reference tag from the notable people section. This is a list and everyone on this list has an article on Wikipedia. While references are a great thing it is not necessary to provide a reference for an inline cite that would most likely be the same references on that article. Sabine Pass annexation

[edit]

Sabine Pass (the town) was annexed by Port Arthur in 1978. This article needs to be updated to reflect this. Otr500 (talk) 00:18, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's no mention that Port Arthur borders Louisiana.

[edit]

I think that that would best be put in the geography section.98.195.88.33 (talk) 01:19, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hurricane Harvey

[edit]

I added a new section about Hurricane Harvey, which I'm sure will need to be updated very soon. Wary of WP:Recentism, I didn't want to add too much information considering the entries on the other storms are rather light. Kerdooskis (talk) 22:12, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
