The plot section should actually be about the plot

[edit]

The second paragraph of the Plot section doesn't really say anything about the plot, beyond the first sentence. The rest is about the characters, and is poorly written (it consists of a bunch of sentence fragments) and redundant (already covered in the 'list of characters' article). I propose scrapping the paragraph until more is known about what the "Dino Charge Power Rangers" actually do after the discovery of the Energems and formation of the group. 76.64.33.14 (talk) 07:21, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yoshi vs Yoshua

[edit]

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3336353/

Yoshi is not his actual name. Actual name is Yoshua, the page it directs to is wrong, not the dino charge page. It is not wrong to refer to him AS Yoshi, but as you plainly see from above, most definitely his name is Yoshua. FlossumPossum (talk) 07:09, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is WP:UGC and not a reliable source. Looks like he's typically credited as Yoshi Sudarso so that's the name we should use per WP:COMMONNAME. — Strongjam (talk) 14:27, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Should press release be pushed above their actual given name? Such as the fact P Diddy/Puff daddy's entry on Wikipedia is not Puff daddy or P Diddy but Sean Combs despite his persona being known far better than his actual name? Though I wouldn't object to the press release name used, if someone goes to make the actual article again I'd suggest strongly using his actual name which you can find in public record and credited elsewhere as well. Though his other works have officially used Yoshua, or Yoshua 'Yoshi'. It would seem extremely odd not to use their actual name, but that's probably more an interest to take in their actual article. FlossumPossum (talk) 21:00, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well Bono's page is Bono not Paul David Hewson. Anyway, if the article does get re-created it should mean there is more sourcing available and it should be clear which name to use. — Strongjam (talk) 21:07, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
http://imgur.com/VofidQJ The show itself credits him as Yoshua. So maybe we should rethink it entirely? :P FlossumPossum (talk) 21:08, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind if that's how he's credited. I was hoping they'd have the credits on the show website but didn't find them. — Strongjam (talk) 21:12, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yah, I doublechecked that too, but I had a facepalm moment once I remembered I have every episode so far on my hard drive. It was easy enough just to check. I'll leave putting it back to you though! :) FlossumPossum (talk) 21:17, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well I managed to misspell his name in my edit summary, but not in the actual edit. — Strongjam (talk) 21:21, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the opening of the show has now been updated to credit him as Yoshi, so I think that just opened a Wikipedia can of worms. 99.162.156.148 (talk) 22:23, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Citations and sources are needed

[edit]

Please be sure that all additions to the Power Rangers Dino Charge are verifiable. Any new items added to the article should have inline citations for each claim made.

Some of the unsourced material has been explicitly challenged, by the addition of {{citation needed}} on some statements. If you have a source, please add it as a citation. Other material appears to be original research, as it is not from a secondary source, but I'd be happy just to see verifiable sources provided, even if primary sources, for now.

One editor has also recently removed {{citation needed}} tags. I reverted, and the editor has removed the tags again. Rather than get into an edit war, let's discuss it here. As far as I know, there is no exception in Wikipedia policy that articles on TV shows do not need to meet WP:V. Let's work to improve this article and get all statements verifiably sourced with inline citations. Cheers. N2e (talk) 02:13, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The unsourced material you're challenging is quite literally just the names of the cast members. You clearly don't know how articles on television shows are written. The primary source you want to see is the actual TV show which demonstrates that these cast members portray the roles that are listed on the article. Not every cast member entry has to be cited. Not every single statement on a page has to be cited. Certain things should just be taken for granted as being known from looking at the credits on the TV show (or even on IMDB or a similar website) or certain things should be taken for granted as being parts of the TV show (such as character biographies or plot summaries). Stop imposing such a strict interpretation of these sourcing policies on these pages because you clearly don't know how things actually work.--2601:140:8200:DE:3967:5C51:A0A7:1A98 (talk) 03:14, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia. If you have a problem with building an encyclopedia, then please don't edit. Encyclopedias are based off of what we know to be fact, and wikipedia uses sources to verify those facts. Wikipedia does not "take things for granted". N2e is not imposing a strict interpretation, he/she is doing exactly what any other editor would do: place citation needed tags on uncited claims. Jcmcc (Talk) 10:42, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Uncited claims? It's a list of cast members. The cast members featured in the subject of this article. It's a strict interpretation that is not used on any other page on this website. I don't see citations on the cast members on Supergirl (U.S. TV series). We're not making any claims here. We're just repeating what's written in the TV show's credits. Demanding a source is just inane.2601:140:8200:DE:D00E:68C1:F5D2:D785 (talk) 00:39, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, no no a thousand times no. Basic things such as the name of a character and the actor portraying them do NOT need sourcing period, as its a given just by glancing at the credits at the end of each episode. 2601:140:8200:DE:3967:5C51:A0A7:1A98 (talk) is right about this, no other television articles do this. Why do you insist on such strict guidelines for a children's show? Next thing you know you'll be telling me 50-year old shows such as Leave it to Beaver need sourcing. And why don't classic series need these sources? And when would it be a good time to remove the citations about said characters, after the series is finished airing? Or do you insist they remain there for eternity? citations for anything I've seen on other articles usually pertains to something ABOUT the character, not the character or actor themselves. Obviously the "assume good faith" policy isn't worth a can of beans, and sure doesn't seem to be relevant to you in the slightest. Nevermind the fact the "citation needed" needlessly clutters the cast section. Stop policing and adhering to this stringent citation nonsense, it makes you look tyrannical and controlling of this article when you should be working together with other editors to make this a great page. Blakebs (talk) 03:33, 28 October 2015 (CST)
Who is "you" me? N2e? Any other editors that disagree with you? Assume good faith has nothing to do with dropping policy in favor of not "believing" someone. As suming good faith also has *nothing* to do with lacking sources. Leave it to Beaver IS in fact sourced. Even then, it wouldn't require sourcing because its considered a "well-known" and "well-documented" thing. For example: no source is required when saying that the Eiffel Tower is in France. The biggest reason that these cast members should be sourced is because this article has been fraught with all sorts of claims, disputes, and uncited claims. [1] [2] [3] [4] When there is a major dispute at hand, citations are critical to keep things accurate. I urge you to not waste more time trying to find ways to justify abandoning policy and instead use that energy to find citations. Jcmcc (Talk) 23:10, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the content at the time because it was from episodes that hadn't yet aired. Now they have aired. Kitsunelaine (talk) 00:41, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I cited the credits. That should be okay, right? Kitsunelaine (talk) 00:48, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly! Movies are considered a form of documentation and a published source! Thanks Kitsunelaine Jcmcc (Talk) 07:25, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In answer to the question, yes, the show episodes themselves are a source, and can be used to provide citations. We should note, however, that these sources are WP:primary sources and have some limitations. Such sources are quite appropriate for many of the statements made (like who is the voice actor). Those sources do not solve all problems (like questions of notability, or opinions on importance, etc.), but those questions are not currently a part of the discussion in this section of the Talk page. Cheers. N2e (talk) 12:22, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
