Other Loblaws Bands?
[edit]Should other brands produced under the PC or Loblaws brands be included here too? For example, PC's Splendido pastas and sauces, their 'Most Decadent' line, or Joe Fresh clothing? I see nothing mentioning these 'brands' at all.
I've removed the reference to the "recently" in the financial services section. I had an account when I last lived in Toronto, which is over 7 years ago now. That doesn't seem terribly recent, in my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.20.186.51 (talk) 04:41, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
Sodium content in Blue Menu items
[edit]"although Blue Menu items have been criticized by the CSPI for their high sodium content". The linked to article doesn't seem to criticize the sodium content. The relevant bits (last part of the document) criticize the non-Blue Menu PC products for sodium, and says Blue Menu PC products "could be a lot worse" with their 400mg to 800mg of sodium. For comparison, another product in the article is described as having "only 400mg" of sodium, while another with 900mg is described as being "high in sodium". Also, the entire document is talking about frozen dinners, which is only a small portion of the Blue Menu items available.--Nonpareility 17:27, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, "it could be worse" is hardly a ringing endorsement. My take was that they are the best of the worst. Perhaps the article could be edited to remove "criticize" and replace it with something a bit less harsh. The article is very close to being advertising at present though, so I think we need to work to balance the article more, rather than looking for critical things to remove. That being said, take it out if you object strongly. -- cmh 23:42, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see the article being all that unbalanced (unorganized/incomplete, maybe). It seems factual, minus the part I criticized and the quote "PC is known for its innovative products". Even if it was, the solution to an unbalanced article is not to leave unsubstantiated parts in. I'll probably remove both.--Nonpareility 15:02, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Go ahead and delete both, it will be an improvement. It seems factual, granted, but even with the changes you suggest it sounds a bit like a corporate pep rally to me, rather than an encyclopedia article. Perhaps as you say it would be better if it were re-organized. -- cmh 15:48, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I removed the reference. I really didn't think it was appropriate; out of the whole article, one line was slightly disapproving of Blue Menu, not worthy of mentioning. The article doesn't need balancing now that it generally feels like an encyclopedia article. Also feel my description of Blue Menu is more encyclopedic. Gord pollock 01:06, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Reorganization
[edit]A few points of note (feel free to make the changes back!):
- Removed references to PC beer, didn't seem noteworthy enough
- Replaced the explanation of what PARKnSHOP is with a link to its article.
- Removed references to Weston, Neilson Dairy, and Western Grocers. I didn't feel it added any information about PC, rather it's more suitable to the applicable stores.--Nonpareility 17:17, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Good work! Article is much better now. -- cmh 22:21, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Availability
[edit]I think that the list of Loblaws-owned/affiliated stores is unnecessary/advertising. Could someone maybe change it?-Joe Schme(ssages)dley 23:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Dairy Products
[edit]President's Choice now produces a large range of dairy products - especially under their "Organics" label - including butter, cheese, milk, and yogurt. It seems inaccurate to leave this in the description. 74.98.92.214 04:35, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Got anything to back up what you're saying (a link to their site, a press release, etc.)?--Nonpareility 14:21, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Here's a link to their dairy product listings on their website: http://www.presidentschoice.ca/FoodAndRecipes/GreatFood/ProductsList.aspx/id/183/name/Dairy

PC Organics milk is not only available in 2%. As a former Loblaws-chain employee, I can assert that they carry PC Organics 1%, 2%, skim, and homogenized milk, despite the fact that their website doesn't list them. Appropriate adjustments have been made to the article to reflect this. —Gabriel. 00:13, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
PC in NY grocery chains
[edit]Hi. Someone will have to find sources to back me up but here's what I know as a local: Price Chopper started carrying PC products in the mid or late 90s, though I don't know if that's still the case as I haven't lived in the area in a while. I do live in the Topps area of NY currently, and they no longer carry PC products - so far as I know, they haven't since I moved in 1999. EllePollack 14:55, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:PC Telecom.png
[edit]Image:PC Telecom.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Luxury Brand?
[edit]I live and grew up in BC and I never thought of PC as a luxury brand, but my friends who grew up in Ontario said that they always considered to be so. I wonder if there is a regional difference across Canada about how the brand is perceived. Eiad77 (talk) 01:00, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi @Eiad77: Loblaws only operates discount brands in western Canada (such as Real Canadian Superstore and No Frills; however, in Ontario they operate higher-priced grocery stores (such as Loblaws). As such, the products sold in their Ontario stores generally tend to be of the PC Black Label brand, compared to No Name in BC. Hope that explanation helps! Product Availability Outside North America
[edit]The Cayman Islands and Bermuda are both part of North America. I'm retitling that section. ( SailingOn (talk) 14:58, 29 January 2018 (UTC) )
Suggestions for simplicity, promotional style
[edit]Responding to the header request, I've done my best to suggest simplifications (e.g. reducing the number of repeated references to "President's Choice" to the "PC" initialism and equivalent pronouns) and toning down gratuitous promotional content (e.g. executive quotes that didn't add information). – AndyFielding (talk) 03:28, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
