Spelling of second name

[edit]

The London Hearts site shows his second name as "Smyth" rather than "Smith" as does IFFHS (Scroll down to 1896). www.allfootballers.co. does likewise, so should not the article be amended (and renamed) to show this? --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 16:57, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you're right, it is spelled this way on his grave in Cathcart cemetery, Glasgow. Smyth was his mother's maiden name. I'll make the changes. --92.10.19.227 (talk) 20:45, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BBC article

[edit]

I see a BBC article about McColl that might be useful.

  • Southwick, Andrew (6 May 2022). "RS McColl - the Scottish footballer turned corner shop king". BBC News. Retrieved 6 May 2022.).
