Social Work & philosophy

I just now heard him on the radio. He's also a semi-regular guest interview on "The Visionary Activist," Caroline Casey (on Thursdays, 2 pm, KFCF (and I presume KPFA Pacifica archives?)). It seems he's taken his education from "the wall" to help incarcerated children, who greatly respect his mentorship.

...young people who had lost touch with the natural world.??? It's long been my opinion that the ongoing demise of the Boy and Girl Scouts and camping etc, is largely responsible for much of the new crap in the news. Nature was once the Great American Teacher.

It seems he's also co-author of "Spirit of the Rock," Hardcover Apr 08, 2003. "Now, thirty years into his climbing adventure, Kauk's commitment is to be of service to the natural world through raising awareness in the community, protecting the earth, and helping new generations recognize the values of respect and responsibility to our source of life."
