Date of origin?

[edit]

I've found a description which came with a badge of the rood, which dates it to the 1420s. It's hardly a reliable source, but if anyone else finds something which supports (or contradicts) this, please add it to the article; I can't find anything else myself. --xensyriaT 15:42, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Rood was 1420s or the badge? As an aside, [www.kentarchaeology.ac/digiarchive/ColinFlight/rood-of-grace.pdf this] is a good picking apart of the current known sources about the Rood. Le Deluge (talk) 20:28, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph

[edit]

Since the Cross was burnt in London in the 15th/16th Century - I dont think a photograph would be found!DavidAnstiss (talk) 16:56, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But the Portable Antiquities Scheme has turned up an image (generic and not particularly informative), but added nonetheless.--217.155.32.221 (talk) 14:17, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that we are unlikely to find a pre-16th-century drawing, showing the Rood of Grace, though I suppose it's not impossible. Canterbury Cathedral Archive might have something. So I have added a 14th-century picture of a water and levers automaton, showing how they made that sort of thing at that time. I have removed the reqphoto template, with respect to the above comments. Storye book (talk) 17:40, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
