"Legal status as a religion" section

[edit]

I have tagged it as refimprove. There are two newspapers saying different things. Info should be sourced from somewhere more reliable and authoritative i.e. govt depts. The academic book quoted is a good source as well and its findings are the ones I put at Scientology as a state-recognized religion. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 23:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added Link This could also stand to be linked in... don't have time or wikipedia skills to actually make a decent edit, but it shouldn't be hard (and it's quite relevant IMO) [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.35.4.130 (talk) 01:35, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the link you suggested and also summarized the article on Hill v. Church of Scientology of Toronto. Ross Fraser (talk) 05:31, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scientology isn't a registered charity in Canada (see http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/ebci/haip/srch/basicsearchresult-eng.action?s=+&k=&p=1&b=true). It isn't recognized by the Canadian Military: http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/pub/rc/doc/rc-eng.pdf I don't know where to obtain info on churches that can issue marriage banns in Canada.
