Naming dilemma

Ship classes are named after the lead ship of the class which apparently at one time was supposed to be Fortitude. However, Spearhead (JHSV-1) is already under construction and is the lead ship of the class according to this news release. So it would seem that the class should be named Spearhead class. To add more confusion the official not to be reckoned with NVR still has the ships listed as originally planned. All of this conflicting information means this article should keep its name until we have some clarity. Brad (talk) 07:52, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

It's official now. The lead ship of the class is Spearhead. I'll be changing the names around accordingly in the next day or two. Brad (talk) 15:21, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
http://shipbuildinghistory.com/today/statistics/navycontracts.htm. You can change it now. Marcus Qwertyus 15:30, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Should be all done. There were many associated articles that needed changing as well. Brad (talk) 19:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Cutting down to 10

Is CRS alone sufficient to add this? Hcobb (talk) 16:07, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Title case

Shouldn't it remain "Joint High Speed Vessel" as that is an official designation (proper noun), unlike (say) "Foo-class battleship"? - The Bushranger One ping only 16:44, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

If it were other than simply descriptive, I might agree with you. Joint high speed vessel seems not much dissimilar from other ship type descriptors.

Except it isn't descriptive; it's a program title. - The Bushranger One ping only 21:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Sure, for an article about the program, I see nothing wrong with title case. This article is about a class of ships.

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 19:56, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

swath is better described as twin hull than as catamaran

All these ships are SWATH designs.

"Placing the majority of a ship's displacement under the waves is similar in concept to creating a ship that rides atop twin submarines."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small-waterplane-area_twin_hull

The distinction is significant, I'd use the term "twin hull" and avoid the word "catamaran".

11th Spearhead-class ship (JHSV-11) funded.

Included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 was funding for the eleventh vessel of the Spearhead-class. "...Appropriators provided about $154 million to fund an eleventh JHSV. Interest in the Navy has been rising for more missions the relatively low-cost all-aluminum ships can handle..." http://www.defensenews.com/article/20141212/DEFREG/312120029/Navy-Gains-Ship-15-Growlers-Defense-Bill — Preceding unsigned comment added by FormerDirtDart (talkcontribs) 22:28, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
