Notable Past Pupils[edit]

I just rewrote the sport section, unfortunately the guy who was on the Ireland under 20s didn't really make it. I don't really think that he's notable enough.AleXd (talk) 14:25, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have included a section entitled Notable Alumni. Owing to the sparsity and variation of the list, I resisted placing names under sub-headings, and instead listed them in order of birth year (as best I could). I also limited entries to those with a Wikipedia page. The section is, of course, by no means complete, and the majority of the names were found through restricted google searches.

Sporting Achievements[edit]

It may be worth mentioning some of the sporting achievements. For example St Andrews won the Leinster rugby cup 4 times (1906, 1911, 1921 and 1922). There are only 6 schools that have won it more times. Aberdeen01 (talk) 10:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have included a section entitled Sport. As Hockey is the sport at which the school appears to be, by far, most successful, it is the only one I have given a sub-heading. Where Irish Internationals are mentioned, they are not named, as the individuals do not have Wikipedia pages.

Further Requirements[edit]

I suggest the following: a neutralizing of the wording, noticeable in Evolution sub-heading: "it offers a very wide range of..."; a more concise history with the removal of the sub-heading for Wellington Place; removal of Structure heading, with the information being incorporated elsewhere; a reduction in the content of the Model United Nations sub-heading; a section on academics and subjects; a more complete section on extra-curricular activities; a section on the school's prominence in Irish third-level feeder school rankings; a section on fees, the information on which is easily accessible on sac.ie; and a greater stressing of the international nature of the school and of its provision of the IB Diploma.

General[edit]

I have removed the following from Mdunne's contributions of 15/05/13:

"regarded as one of the most...influential" - there is no evidence to suggest that the school is in anyway influential (that is, has an influence on other schools, curricula, etc.
That the school is famously difficult to get in to - that the school has a long waiting list does not make it unusual among similar schools.
One of the highest Oxbridge/Ivy League admission rates - though likely true, no comparative data exist to corroborate the claim (were there to be, it's arguable that the point is still not illustrative as only three applicants domiciled in Ireland received an offer from Oxford last year; unless all were from the school, its being the top feeder school isn't very note-worthy). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.43.121.109 (talk) 15:45, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The "St." form is preferred in American English, while the "St" form is used on the other side of the Atlantic (or, as that policy indicates, "Dr." and "Dr"). Most of those listed in Category:Girls' schools in the Republic of Ireland, Category:Boys' schools in the Republic of Ireland, etc. use the form "St X School". Ireland's Department of Education uses the form "St Andrew's College" in its inspection reports, as does The Irish Times in this report.
