Notability/merge

[edit]
The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived: outcome was: merged/redirected

Hi. Per the tag recently added (since removed), I do not see how independent notability is established here. In terms of WP:GNG, the very recently news coverage (of the short-term closure and renovation) does not appear to meet WP:SIGCOV. (That there is so little coverage, that we have to rely on vague Facebook posts to establish even the basic facts, does little to help with these concerns.) Also, the "directory" style entries in the NIAH and Noone's local history work are also not especially substantial coverage. In terms of WP:GEOFEAT and WP:NBUILDING, while other churches in the area (like Saint Colman's Claremorris) are listed in the Record of Protected Structures for County Mayo, this church is not. And hence doesn't meet the "protected status on a national level" criteria. Absent other sources, establishing independent notability, I propose to merge the majority of cited content (minus the "table or priests from a random period") to Glenamoy#Built_heritage Glenamoy#Religion. And propose to redirect this title there. Similar to the Ballyhaunis church title/redirect. Guliolopez (talk) 16:46, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense, I agree. RoryFC (talk) 21:32, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've tagged the article to highlight the merge proposal - in case other editors have other opinions. I also, FYI, have created a Glenamoy#Religion section at the "main" article. And, unless there are other thoughts or objections, recon that's probably a better target for the redirect. If there are no other thoughts/inputs, in the coming days, I'll go ahead with the merge/redirect. Guliolopez (talk) 14:45, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Resolved. As it has been approx 2 weeks since the initial tagging/discussion, and as the only contributions/input has been in support of the merge/redirect, I have gone ahead. And merged the relevant (non-duplicating) content. And redirected the title.
