Gray is leading the investigation into Boris Johnson's Partygate scandal

[edit]

Please keep this in the article.2601:447:4000:220:4C66:79D1:73CA:713A (talk) 01:12, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Husband

[edit]

...her husband Bill Conlon.

Are they still married? There is no mention of any husband in the Info Box, as would be usual. Valetude (talk) 23:59, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent articles like this indicate that they are married, so there seems no reason not to include it in the infobox. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:16, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

It seems likely several readers will come to this article because they are looking for "the Sue Gray report" and unsure of the name of the article on this topic (Partygate, which was until yesterday Westminster lockdown parties controversy). It would be useful for readers to have a link to Partygate in the lead of this article, and it is also a significant part of the article that deserves summary in the lead. I made an edit to this effect yesterday but it was reverted. --LukeSurl t c 09:41, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article title

[edit]

She is no longer a civil servant - she works for the Labour Party. Admittedly, she became notable when she was a civil servant - but, should the article title now be changed? Perhaps to something like Sue Gray (political adviser)? Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:34, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also a good point - I support that move. SmartSE (talk) 17:11, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I waited three weeks, so now that we have a 2-0 "consensus" I've been bold. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Political party in infobox

[edit]

I've removed the mention of her purported personal political affiliation from the infobox. I could be wrong, but I've not seen anything to confirm her personal political views, and in the UK there is no good reason to assume that she shares the same political views as those of her employer. Her personal views and her employment should not be confused with each other. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - good point. SmartSE (talk) 17:11, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Opening paragraph

[edit]

An IP is attempting to add words to the opening paragraph "...Her report into the Partygate scandal, written while she held secret talks with the Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer..." This is covered in the article text, but it seems to be undue weight to refer to it in the opening paragraph, and an attempt to disparage the (living) subject. The words bolded above should be removed and the previous text restored. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:07, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Age

[edit]

Sue GRAY personal appointments - Find and update company information - GOV.UK (company-information.service.gov.uk) says she was born in September 1957. 79.173.163.179 (talk) 12:50, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"...joined the Labour Party..."

[edit]

There is a mention of her having "joined the Labour Party" in 2023, referenced to this source, which says that she "formally joined Labour" at that time. But that is vague - I would assume that there is a significant difference between her being employed by the Labour Party, and being a member of the Labour Party. I don't think we know whether she was a member of the Labour Party before 2023, or whether she is a member now. Do we know that for certain, or is that an interpretation of imprecise wording being made by the editor here? Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:29, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Envoy to" vs "Envoy of" vs "Envoy for"

[edit]

What is the actual title of Ms Gray's new job. Is it:

  • "Envoy to" or "Envoy of" or "Envoy for", and
  • "to the nations and regions" or "for the nations and regions" or "of the nations and regions"

...and has anybody go a reliable source? I don't think the newspapers are that accurate these days. Kind regards, Anameofmyveryown (talk) 17:42, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Envoy

[edit]

The kead has "She has served as Envoy to the Prime Minister for the Nations and Regions since 6 October 2024." which is inconsistent with what is said further down.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 14:34, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
