Copyvio

[edit]

Although the creator of this article has made efforts to rephrase the content here after copy-pasting it from here, I've tagged it for speedy deletion as belonging to the SCV category of "Blatant copyright infringements where no permission or ownership is asserted and no untainted version exists". The bot notice makes it quite clear that "... simply modifying copyrighted text is not sufficient to avoid copyright infringement— it is best to write the article from scratch", and that hasn't been done here. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... The page was started as a lift-out from the Sywell Aerodrome page as it seemed worth preserving. This was a copy-vio as per the bot-alert. The article has since been rewritten and should no longer be a violation. --Brookie :) { - he's in the building somewhere!} (Whisper...) 14:15, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see the picture a bit more clearly now. I was surprised to see such blatant copying from an editor who never seems to have done anything of the sort before, and that is now explained. That content was added there by editor Sywell Aviation Museum, who very probably had the rights to it but had not released them to us.
Please, if you ever happen to split or copy content from one Wikipedia page to another again, could you make sure you provide attribution for the source?
I don't know what it's best to do about this page; unfortunately it can't stay in its present state, as there is still copyvio remaining and the previous infringing content was rewritten in place instead of being removed and replaced with something new. The options I see are: delete and start again; redirect back to the parent article; or clear the page and then re-add only original content.
