From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A reference for the mentioning of tabuik being a shia muslim festival can (I think, I have no access to the journal at this moment) be found in:

  • The Music-Culture of South-Coast West Sumatra: Backwater of the Minangkabau "Heartland" or Home of the Sacred Mermaid and the Earth Goddess? Margaret J. Kartomi, in: Asian Music, Vol. 30, No. 1 (Autumn, 1998 - Winter, 1999), pp. 133-181.

And maybe even in:

  • Triad and Tabut : a survey of the origin and diffusion of Chinese and Mohamedan secret societies in the Malay Peninsula A.D. 1800-1935, Mervyn Llewelyn Wynne, Singapore, 1941

I'll check these possible sources (I'll probably have access to them next week). MartijnL 14:09, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
