Picture

[edit]

I am currently moving, so I don't have any of my photos handy. It would be great if someone could get a photo of the clock tower uploaded so that we can get it in the infobox. Athryn 07:04, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded a picture I took in July to the Commons and added it to the infobox. --Hjal 23:01, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit problems

[edit]

Something strange happened during this edit [1]. The history says that the edit was happening in Notable Alumni, but a paragraph in "Tam in the news" was cut, as was the Awards section, which was replaced with a duplicate of the Notable Alumni Section. User:Bfrank added Don Michaelian with an IMDB reference in several subsequent edits, so I am going to revert to the version immediately before the glitch and add Bfranks' info on Michaelian, plus anything else that was added after my last edit.--Hjal 15:51, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools as B / High. This article is coming on well and contains lots of content and sources. The history should be converted to prose if possible. Bold should not be used for headings, as done in Sports, per WP:MOS. The alumni section is very extensive but not people listed are sourced. Also, avoid external links within the article body per WP:ELPOINTS. More content on the curriculum would be good, see WP:WPSCH/AG#S. This could be GA with a bit more work, so I will add it to the list of potential GA candidates at WP:WPSCH. There is certainly enough here to justify High-importance as well. Thanks for the assessment. I've corrected the style for the headings. I'm inserting subsections below for discussion of the improvements you suggest.--Hjal (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

The news items are, to some extent, notes for an improved history section and for a separate History of Tamalpais High School article. I have the two books on Tam, but haven't read them and added the encyclopedic material yet.--Hjal (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni

[edit]

Although everybody is sourced either here or in their own articles, I've seen that isn't enough for other editors. Most have been sourced and I think that the rest can be. I have to update the Alumni directory references to the most recent edition. I think that I'll try to convert this section to prose, with a main article link to a separate List of Tamalpais High School people. I've started that list in my sandbox--it is much longer, includes some material that I may not move to article space, and may turn out to be at least slightly controversial. Please take a look here and comment. There are a few alumni and faculty (first listed by others) that don't really seem encyclopedic or aren't yet sufficiently sourced to stay. --Hjal (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know there are more notable alumni than what are listed, but several news reports stated that John Walker Lindh (aka Johnny Jihad) who was a notable figure early in the Afghanistan war had attended or graduated from Tam High. I seem to remember a few more film producers and actors than what are listed there too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.193.222.193 (talk) 17:06, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Some of these are expected to be used as references and then dropped. I'm curious what people think about the links to the two Kaboodle pages on alumni groups and celebrities. It seemed like a way to get useful, but unencyclopedic, information in one place. It does include links to many pictures that are not public domain and information that is not from an RS--however, they seem to be reasonably reliable and not copyvios.--Hjal (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Academics

[edit]

The historic curriculum is prretty interesting, especially during the "polytechnic" era and the rest of E.E. Wood's tenure. For current info, I think that the school's site is the only reliable source. It needs test scores and demographics from NCES or other sources.--Hjal (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category for Tam alumni

[edit]

Category:Tamalpais High School alumni was created yesterday and 39 pages of alumni listed in the article were tagged. I did not tag Anton Lavey (Howard Stanton Levey, Class of ~1948) because I'm having trouble finding RSs that confirm he attended Tam. Any help?--Hjal (talk) 07:50, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
