Port Fairy railway line
[edit]The Port Fairy railway line article covers the infrastructure, the Geelong railway line is about the service. While trains from this station will never operate through to Port Fairy, articles are named to reflect the furthest extremity of the line, irrespective of the current terminus, eg Boggabilla railway line, Marree railway line, Orbost railway line. While the station may not technically be on the Port Fairy line, effectively it is a new branch which may or may not be worthy of a stand alone article, in the absence of such an article, this is the best fit. - I'm aware of that trend - why I changed the article is that it illustrates the complete absurdity of it (though I notice that the actual article, thank god, is now at Warrnambool railway line, so you're reverting to a redirect anyway). I felt it wasn't worth the argument for the existing stations, but there has never been a railway line running to Port Fairy via Tarneit and Wyndham Vale, nor will has there ever or will ever be even a proposal for one. Calling it a station on the "Port Fairy line" doesn't make any sense - it's something that's guaranteed to get a "huh?" from anyone who isn't a railway buff, and even in the context it's still bizarre. Articles on lines that are currently open but truncated from their original termini (as in the track is gone) need to be titled at the current end of the track, and this is an absolutely perfect illustration as to why. This station can be rationally said to be on the Warrnambool, Dennington or Geelong lines, but it cannot be said to be rationally on the Port Fairy line.
